I was flipping channels and came across "Easy to Love" on Turner Classic Movie channel, a 1953 Esther Williams movie.  I only watched a few minutes but it was a ski show scene at the end of the movie, I thought it was pretty cool so figured I'd share it, not sure if it's been talked about here in the past or not.  Curious what the matched set of inboard boats are.

For those younger guys Esther Williams was an Olympic Swimmer for the USA that went on to be a Hollywood star.   The skiers in.that movie had to be darn good, with all those boat wakes the water was rough.

So Mark, what were the clues that I'm an older guy?  Was it that I know who Esther Williams was, or that I flip through Turner Classic Movies when channel surfing? LOL

She was an outstanding athlete and a beautiful woman.  I read that she was pregnant during the movie and did most of the skiing but had a friend stand in to do the helicopter dive for her.  I agree that those dozens of skiers staying up with all those wakes had to be a challenge, and I enjoyed the complex scenes with boats in both directions and each going through their slot between the ramps.

Something about those old "big production" movies puts a smile on my face.  I realize "Singing in the Rain" isn't exactly Captain America and I don't expect the younger generation to sit there and watch, but the style and music and story lines are a neat throwback to an earlier time.

Cool stuff.  Safety seemed to be an afterthought…
I wonder how many “takes” were required when someone fell

That’s crazy skiing along with the cypress trees with that many being pulled. Watching the guys on the end having to maneuver around the tress and the skier next to him.  Defiantly safety was not on the agenda the day of filming. Will say this is very cool seeing this being performed.
