I have the original trailer for my American Skier.  It needs some renovation but I'm curious what others think of bunks vs. rollers for inboard trailers.

David,
I'd stay with the bunks the trailer came with. I feel bunks provide a more uniform support than single point rollers do. I have seen hull damage from rollers.

Are you thinking of converting to rollers? If so, why?

All the really nice custom trailer I see for antique and show boats have multiple adjustable bunks for support   Use a good bunk carpet

They are adjustable because they are not made for that particular hull. No one has made a better trailer than an original CC one. Think about it for a minute- they were made by the company in house to fit their and only their boats. I don’t believe any other boat company did that. I do know of one boat company that advised that if you used a roller trailer it would void the hull warranty.

It's rare I see a custom made trailer for a Classic or Antique class boat with adjustable bunks.

I’m not suggesting he use or make his adjustable. Just saying they all use bunks not rollers.

I have heard of hull damage with rollers. I’ve looked for a good used trailer it’s not easy. Thought of roller conversion for a millisecond, too expensive and didn’t think it would be true to the boat. Considering I have the original trailer with nothing more than surface rust and bunk carpet replacement I’ll spend the money on that.
I heard or read quite awhile ago rollers were not good for inboards and you all have reinforced that, thanks.

You are more likely to drop your boat on the ramp, with a roller trailer than a bunk trailer.

100% of the trailers had bunks
Approximately 20% (1:5) had adjustable bunks
Only saw one with one roller up front middle bow
Use bunks of course
