Ive mentioned it a few times on here, but figured it was time for a formal thread. The Benjamin clan will be hosting the 2nd annual CT mini the weekend of Aug 25, 2012.

Here is what can be expected: http://correctcraftfan.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=21827&PID=274353" rel="nofollow - 2011 CT mini

Not to worry, I have ordered some better weather than last year! Ken has promised us a repeat performance on the parasail, so that will be a real treat. Accomodations will be sparse, but we will do our best to make everyone comfortable.

Tim,
I'll be there with the '63 Plastic Classic and will load it up with any Footers that are at least equal to the boat's age, and if we don't have enough, we can drop the age limit. This hull has yet to EVER (almost 50 years) pull a footer to my knowledge. But since I have run it a couple of hours (and enjoyed it's performance!!), I am almost not able to hold off till the CT Mini!! Who will join me?? I'm thinkin' it's got the 8a11$ for 6+! Needed, just a driver and a large "girl friend" in the back seat!!

I think more classics will be there as well, so there maybe a Kodak moment.

I'm also working on bringing my (formerly your) Tique, but my engine rebuilder is currently looking for a block to replace the one (that was welded but still has lots of cracks) in the boat. Not sure I can get it all together by then, but that story has another day, much like your '79 Barefooter.

If Joe from NY is NOT draggin' a boat, he can stop by Exit 26 of the NYST and I can load him up with a tow.

UT

Mr. Quinner Sir,

You are more than in!! I'm not that good at math, but I'm thinkin' that anyone born in the '60's qualifies hands down. My brother (Tim's father, Gregg) was born in the 50's and I'm tryin' to get him to man up and drop a ski.

The Benjamin family compound will be the home base, so Gregg and Uncle Todd (Got Tiques) will naturally be in attendance. My place has a rocky shoreline and isnt as well suited... but there are a few more docks (and couches) down there for overflow.

I have been assured that Reid is most definitely in the mix.

I think I'll be rolling in friday late afternoon/early evening, may even caravan with Joe, since my boat will be at his place the week before anyway. I think I'll have one girl with me, maybe two...the prettier they are the harder they are to predict. Plan after that is to roll out Monday morning, will bring a tent but plan to play it by ear.

Looks like my +1 is coaching a volleyball practice till 11 or so on Friday, so I would suspect the caravan possibilities with Iaughtnaut are exceedingly high- leaving around lunch or a little before. Hoping Chris(Storm34) and Picture Pat stick around owasco lake for the morning watersports session on friday while the girls are assembling themselves, but with a new boat to meet who knows if Chris will be able to slow his roll that long.

As for Quinner (also Chris) - sounds like you are driving over and should be stopping by my place the weekend before?

Yes, new boat. After searching high and low, I located a 1999 Ski Nautique in Virginia. It has 440 hours on the GT40. 2005 Ram-Lin trailer with little use. I had MacCallum's Boathouse go through the boat and give it a tune-up. Love the super soft wake. I just can't get used to little exhaust noise, mostly transmission whine.

I should be at Tim's Friday night or Saturday. Leaving for Las Vegas Sunday again this year.

Nice ride. I noticed the carpet sag in the photos; my '95 signature did the same thing. I peeled it back and got Loctite spray adhesive sprayed both carpet back and side wall. Let it tack then carefully (it’s like using contact cement) reattach the carpet. Hasn’t sagged since.

I will bring along some hot dogs, sausage patties, and some salt potatoes. What’s the thought on beer, kegs? If you need help with logistics on that front let me know, if not I am always good for cash. I haven’t decided on whether I am bringing the boat yet.

I am hoping for no later than 5-6pm on Friday arrival. I am guessing me plus 1-3 others depending on who can get a hall pass for the weekend.

Still a solid " maybe" at this point. Heading out to go camping Friday AM so i'll know better by Tuesday of next week. I can take care of myself on the consumable end of things so don't worry about me. Hoping to bring the wife if I make it down, not sure if I can talk her into a tent two weeks in a row though. Won't have time to get back to the lake to get the boat if I make it, so I'll be looking for a ride if I show

He bought an X-terra to tow Ken Spurling's '86 2001, so one more mooring!!! I'll be helping out with beverages, food and grocery runs as we find out what is running low. To be clear I am not counting Adam, Kristie, or others in my preliminary headcount... I cannot be held responsible for that crew!

Hell, I would rather not be held responsible for my behavior either.

Basically one week out.. Lets see some people jump off the fences... this will be a really good time, in fact I will guarantee it. If you get there and don't have a good time I will personally refund your entry fee. Besides Ken broke his ankle skiing so we are going to need someone else for the parasailing exhibition this year.

I second not being held responsible for my crew. Or for Quinner spending an inordinant amount of time on or around my boat. Write it down, that's happening, haha.

Its looking like we are going to have an excellent turnout! Only a few days away now...

In addition to all the usual stuff you'd bring to the lake, here are a few recommendations on gear:

1. Anchor... we have a lot of dock space and a few moorings, but I think we'll have more boats than normal!

2. Air mattress... We should be able to put a roof over a decent number of heads, so we'll take advantage of any and all floor space. Barring that...

3. Tent. Lots of dry lawn space!

4. Food/Beer. I'm going to pick up a bunch of essentials, but any additional food or drink brought will surely not go to waste. Plenty of grills and refrigerators around to cook and store stuff.

A note about parking... this is always a fun one.    Those of you who have come in the past have seen the driveway at the Benjamin cottage- its a little steep, and can tight at the bottom if there are a bunch of cars there. Those bringing trailers may be best advised to leave them at the top and walk down. Leaving the truck and trailer at the launch and living out of the boat is fine too!

Those who havent been here before... the lake is small (<200 acres), so if you come by water, you cant miss us. Obstructions are few, and generally well marked with buoys. Stay 100' from docks/shore, dont venture *too* far into the narrow coves and you'll be fine. The lake is shallow, with a sandy/muddy bottom. Water temps are currently in the upper 70's. See everyone in a few days!

Tim,

Should I keep food to grillables? A friend of mine owns an Italian Restaurant/Deli and could probably hook me up with some foil trays of pasta/lasagna etc. Heating it up could be a bit of a challenge on a grill, but probably do-able.

Well, I get a text msg from reid telling me to pack a bag, catch a flight to Charlotte on Wednesday and drive up with him in the Race City RV. Sooooooo, guess I'm on a plane this afternoon and road tripping with Reid. I must be crazy.... Should be interesting to say the least. Ohhhhh, Bully will be making the trip as I still have custody of him.

Ha, I hope not... 2 is my limit!

Rumor has it there will be guest appearances made by a few people not actively participating in this thread... including Gottaski and Mark Mel.

Hopefully, anyone still on the fence can swing it!

The current count is looking to be approx 40-50 people and ~18 boats.

Chris Mars and Picture Pat just departed Scotia, NY headed for Tyler with the '78 Tique in tow. This boat has a "just rebuilt" motor that needs a few adjustments, but should benefit from all of the experts and come home better than when it left. I am really impressed with the turnout so far, and if anyone is on the fence, or thinking of coming for an hour or day, Please come, as it will be a really positive experience!! and FUN. Hope to see more guests, to enjoy a common interest!! Thanks, Todd (UT)

Todd, Made it to Goshen with the Tique safe and sound. She's put away with the cover on and tucked in the spare drive way. Can't wait to see daylight.... All those who are on the fence better get here quick! Lots of fun to be had this weekend.

We've logged 27 hours in the truck thus far so no excuses!!!!!!

To all - Weather is going to be perfect, and the company and boats will be even better!! Join us!! You heard Chris, No excuses.

The 2 Iowa boys were still asleep when I left the house this morning... hopefully theyre up early enough to take advantage of the glass. Hate to leave the lake when it looks like that!

Uncle Todd's Tique is in the driveway... looks like we'll get to line it up against its bigger brother, as our '79 BFN should be making an appearance sometime today. With any luck, they'll both be in the water tomorrow.

Shaping up to be an excellent weekend!

As I told Tim a couple months ago, the bad news is I won't make the event this year. The good news is, its because I live in NC now. I suppose I could have caravanned up with the southern contingent, but having made the NC-NE trip 472 times this past year, I think I will stay put, sit on the dock and enjoy a "sweet tea" You never know who might stop by.

Todd was holding a spot for me in the Senior Division Barefoot line behind the classic, as when the event was first announced, I didnt know I was going to be here by now. I'm disappointed I won't be a part of that. Maybe he'll throw a skierless rope off the back as a tribute to my absence....or maybe not.

Y'all have fun and watch those head in the rocks parasail starts.

Well, the southern contingent made it safely to Quinners Tree house. Weve met his wonderful neighbor Bill and now we are getting ready to hit the water. We both are going on just a couple hours sleep between to two of us so I imagine it will be an early night for us. See the rest of y'all later.

That could work, no one would know the difference.

Of course if kneeboard boy Quinner is one of the senior line, I am guessing there will still be the skierless rope.

Although I do have to say, at Lake George in 08, When we were trying a 5 or 6 man line, kneeboard boy and I were, on one of the attempts, the only two to make it. I hollered to him we should drop and try again. I always regretted our not finishing the doubles run. Next time.

Been on a 6 man line at Reid's. Had the dubious honor of stepping off next to kneeboard boy. Yikes.

Can I get in line for the seniors double run Larry? I got experiance and references;

Airtique98..69-me..61 and Ralph Shick..72 (I think). From last summer at Norris. Did take a 3 man with me, Bill and H.W this year but no-one has sent me pics yet.

I'll be working from home in the morning for a bit, picking up my pasta (1 tray of lasagna and 1 tray of eggplant parm) at about 1. Wishing I was leaving earlier. Should be there by 4, I think it's about a 2 1/2 to 3 hour drive from here.

I have a couple cardboard boxes full of tools in my Jeep for the summer. Should I keep them in there for the trip in case anyone needs? My special interest tools include by Carb Wrench, Holley Vacuum Gauge, and a thermo temp gun. Good selection of wrenches and sockets too.

If last year is any indication, no, there won't be. Other than you pulling Brad and I on a misty early morning BF run, the place was pretty darn quiet. After Brad and I wrapped up we went in and were dripping on Hollywood, telling him to get up and it was still a couple hours before he surfaced.

You guys make me sick. All that fun and I am not there. IAughtNaut filled me in on some of the details. Too much fun!!!! I would like to be counted in Next year. Would a 1947 birthdate qualify me for the Senior barefoot group. I think this sounds like what a gathering of "ski boys" and their toys should be about.

Need pictures to prove my sons claims of a "

Morning guys! Lots of skiing still going on as some of the footers are getting ready to hit the glass this morning. Its been a great weekend thus far. We tried to get 11 skiers up behind Joe's 83 at dusk last night but we were too much for even Joe's boat. PicturePat has the evidence as he was in the boat. In the end only 6 got up but it was fun trying. Reid was king of the hill as he was last man standing by the time they headed back. LOTS of pics have been taken but y'all will just have to wait till we get to some computers and upload them. The Benjamin Klan has gone more than above and beyond in making sure everyone is being taken care off. They're absolutely fantastic folks!

WOW - what a great weekend! Cheney and I had a blast!

Thanks a million to the fantastic hosts- the Benjamins- you guys went all out for this one!

Was great to see everyone again and meet new fans too.

We've got a lot of photos to process and post soon.

Hope everyone had a safe trip home- especially those of you traveling long distances.

When I awoke this morning on quiet lake Benjamin,
All of the skiers have done headed in.
There's no morning foot run, no rumble of boats,
And somewhere Hollywood's probably wearing his own clothes.

Morfoot was here with his man-friend Reid P,
A couple of Marses with a girl named Zoey.
A couple of Toms, and good old Chris Quinn,
Not to mention a whole slew of Benjamins.

Joe in everywhere made the drive,
As if anyone's surprised.
Late friday nigh a barracuda was sighted,
And when he pulled out the new orange shot ski the crowd was delighted.

There was surfing and a ski from the sky,
And several rookies found something new to try.
Trick skis surged back into popularity,
And as the sun went down some fool ended up on a parasail (that'd be me).

In the end good times were had by all,
We all skied, drank some beer, and enjoyed some good falls.
I'll be back next year with my dad, with any luck,
But as we start to clean up the yard all I can think is, going back to work is gonna suck.

A big old thank you to Tim, Greg, and Todd for hosting all us fools, and to all the fans who came out and played, you guys are awesome. It was a great weekend, and if (or should I say when this happens again next year, anybody withing flying distance should make the trip. Time to get my bird back on the trailer and hit the road. Deen out.

Safe travels to those who are hauling back to points west and south today. I'm dragging at work, but it was totally worth it. Cant wait to do it again!

I have a few pictures, but theyre low quality and a few arent quite PG rated... so I'll defer to the pro's (Pat and Tim)... this event was very well documented. A+++ all around!
