the ski pylon pole for my 1976 ski nautique is very loose. The guy I bought it from said he tried to tighten it. Does anyone have any experience with trying to tighten an old pole?

The only way to tighten it is to check every bolt. 2 U bolts with selflocking nuts. Thoes are easy to get to; there is a bolt at the very bottom that will secure the pylon and keep it from twisting and moving, have you checked it? if its not there that could cause your problem
