| Can anyone give me an idea of what they did to replace mustang gas tank? I just sent for a moeller 19 gal. 10x10x47 but filler is in middle of tank....I either have to move filler or put filler where site glass is for fuel gauge. I'd like to hear what other people have done to theirs...Thanks Chris |

I replaced mine several years ago with this black plastic tank. Everything was identical except the placement of the vent. It is a Tempo brand, I think they quit making this tank.

Do a on site search and do some reading. The replacement tank is common, but does require some retrofitting like relocating the fill/vent attachments. What's up with your existing tank? The reason I ask is the other option is to clean up/coat the existing. I've been around the restoration enough to understand it's really a viable alternate. The coatings do work if done with care and properly. I specifically know of one that was done back in 81 and it's still going great even with the ethanol fuel. Welcome to CCfan. Unfortunately the Tempo is no longer made which is an exact replacement. I would not use the Moeler because of the need to re locate the gas fill to the center. If your tank's no good, I'd have a custom tank made for $300 to $400 which were the quotes I was getting when I was shopping. ------------- |

I got a 68 stang and have the tank out now ,I bought this stuff at Home depot called CLR I think and put in 2 gts and rotated it every 6-10 hrs for 2 days then washed it out with water and then rinsed with paint thinner to dry water out it is currently on my bench clean and dry.
I am awaiting a quart of RED KOTE GAS FUEL TANK SEALER LINER REDKOTE QT. I bought on ebay for around 30 bucks and plan on giving it a nice coating and reinstalling it this week,this process used to be used alot, back in the day, by alot of radiator shops up my way .But none offer ir anymore, due to I guess regulations,I'll let you know how I make out but it's looking good so far ------------- 1966 Correct Craft Mustang |
