The transmission on my 97 ski nautique with a ford engine has lost its neutral. It starts with forward thrust, if I reverse slowly, it goes into reverse without going into neutral. Thrust is more than casual spinning. Help

More than likely the clutch pack is to tight and not allowing your transmission to spin freely in nuetral, my 76 did this it is a problem that you can live with, it will not get any worse, if you can't live with it you will need to get it rebuilt.
