Doing a 80 series trans change on a 1990 Nautique ok  tilll installation of the muffler, the trans cooler fittings are in a different location from the 40 series trans which prevents hooking the exhaust due the muffler hitting the fitting , The 90 degree elbow is low as possible, adjusting the motor mounts does not help. Need a crease in the bottom of the muffler about 1/12 inches were it contacts the fitting for installation, I am planning to use a jack with a fixture to hold the muffler,, do not want to hurt the muffler it is good shape, Work stoppage, any ideas? One idea would be a picture to show just what the issue is Wink

It kinda sounds like you'll either be  modifying the bottom of the invertaflow muffler and doing a little fiberglassing to get your clearance or doing away with the muffler if you don't mind more noise.

Here's a picture from somewhere here on CCF of somebody's  "hull hugger delete" but the idea's the same with the invertaflow muffler delete.

Or just a thought, can you shorten the inlet hoses enough to raise the muffler for clearance and then use a longer exit hose. That would move the muffler forward and up.

Maybe it'll hit the engine box doing that though? Or there's not enough material to shorten it and have hose clamps be able to hook up

Did cut the muffler, doing the fiberglass. Call with dealer suggested longer riser hoses to move muffler back a couple inches then cut enough off the exit hose, would be easier but already made the cut. When finished post a detailed info of the entire installation.
