so I just picked up what I believe to be a 63 American skier but im not 100 percent sure.
vin plate in the stringer reads (am183).
Can anyone decipher the vin plate?
I ive done research and was only able to come up with HIN number decoders.
thanks in advance.

The "AM" says it's an American Skier and the 183 is simply a serial number. No code in it. HIN's didn't start until 1972

Some have had success contacting CC but that involves someone taking the time to look at the old paperwork which at this time is difficult considering how busy they are and their lack of interest

How about looking for extra engine mount holes in the stringers? BTW, HIN's do not indicate engines.

Post some pictures.

my first correct craft was an am skier, red hull cream deck, flathead six by graymarine, floor shift. ran about 36 mph till 327 gray transplant then about 48/49 top end
what you dont want to hear from jbear and bill.you cant get in the boat till you get your minute, and they throw you back in water!

Mine came in a 4 cylinder flavor. Would have been very easy to add another exhaust port if you were changing engines. Like Pete says it would be best to write the factory and see if they have anyone looking things up anymore.
Can you take a picture of the inside back ?

You are really somthin'.... I was referring to my American Skier AM 361 - it was a 4. If you click on my avatar you can see it in the background of one of the pictures. Not all of us have deep enough pockets that can own boats made in this century.

Gary,

I stand corrected. I never knew you had an American Skier. I do highly recommend the Correct Craft Boats from this Century. They are nice !!!!!!!!!!

Donald
