This is what came out of the manifolds when I drained this year...actually this is what I usually get. '99 SAN with GT-40 ~900hrs...~100hrs this summer. normal?? concern?? It looks like rust flakes...but not quite...
As far as I can tell, I'm not quite sure...

You will get rust when draining a cast iron manifold. Do you get this much crud on an annual basis? The first time I drained there was a lot, but not as much year after year now.

that seems to be pretty much "normal" for this boat...my '88 has some too...but maybe ~1/8 the amount...
As far as I can tell, I'm not quite sure...

More than I ever get out of PCM ones,the aluminium HM's get nothing out. Maybe your water is on the acidic side?

I think that is normal. wow and a hundred hours in one season up there. I am lucky to see 40 in NC

I do between 70-110 hours a season and never get anything out of my PCM manifolds. They are stored dry every winter.

I guess there's a chance you sucked up some muck/crud at one time that settled in the manifolds.

Do you drain them every year?
