Getting the most power out of engine

I have a Gray 4 cylinder 75 hp in my CC '49 utility. With 2-3 adults onboard, max rpms at 2900 which I will say is "peppy" but not downright fast.

If I am pulling my kids in a tube, max rpms will drop off to about 2500 and further to about 2100 when I bank a turn. Otherwise, engine starts easily and runs even.

Does this seem right for my size engine? any ideas to increase power with what I have would be appreciated. Thanks.
