I have an '89 Barefoot with a 454cid and a 650 cfm Holley and was wondering where I could get a carburetor wedge plate to allow the carb to work in a plumb level position. I have had no luck in finding one with enough angle or manifold clearance to work. Help.

There's at least 4 places you can find one of these wedge plates:

1. Glen-l has a 12 degree for $46.
Part #90-455 (They call it a Tilt Shim)
2. Holley has a 7 degree and a 12 degree. Part # 717-1 & 717-2, respectively.
3. Moroso has a 5 degree. Part #65030.
4. Transdapt has an 8 degree. Part #2008.

Hope this helps. Websites for each are easy to find.

Does anyone have an opinion as to whether these plates really help? I had one on my '78 but never really tested as to any increase in performance. I know it's lots easier to test these things now, and we are lucky to have so many tech guys on this site. I didn't use a wedge on any of my later boats but thought I might again if it is proven that it would help.

JBEAR,
If you'll read the other post about the same issue you'll find I'm going to install a new carb FIRST, then a 12 degree wedge from Glen-L. I'll find out for you and let you know. Keep in mind, what works for me may not work for you or someone else. Each to his own. Boats are a lot like women...Gotta learn their language.

JBEAR,
Installed my wedge and found some great results. Read the other post where I've offered a more detail description. One thing's for sure, it's NOT money wasted for me, at least. Enjoy!
