Can anyone direct me to a maintenance manual for a 351 Ford Thermo Electron engine. I have a 1974 Ski Nautique, and it seems that this engine is somewhat of an orphan.

Thermo Electron is or was the parent co. of Crusader Marine Engines which is still in business. They mostly used GM blocks but like other companies probably also used ford blocks at some point. Check out their web site at crusaderengines.com.

Like Duck Soup stated, they were definitely related. Once the T.E. engine marketing name came on the scene, I think sometime around 71-72, the Ford engines were red and carried the Thermo name while the Crusaders were blue and I believe shifted to the GM block. There were plenty of blue Ford Crusaders prior to that. But that's from what I've observed only. I know there's someone out there with an old brochure and I think e-bay would be a good place to stick an inquiry. Good luck and how about some boat/engine photos.

Did you have any luck finding a manual? I have a 73 Nautique with the Thermo Electron engine.

MMA,
If you want a copy of a manual, call this guy:
Dan Labadie 704-400-3116. He's got a 72 Mustang with a Palmer, and either still has my manual or made a copy of it. He'd be glad to make you a copy and send it to you most likely, if you just tell him you talked to Reid. I found the manual on the net. Just found this again now. Check it out: http://www.marineengine.com/manuals/palmer/
