Hello, I bought a 1982 ski natique three years ago and restored most of it, and it ran great until something in the timing system got messed up. I just figured I would engine swap it for something newer and with lower hours. I swapped it with a 1990 master craft engine, still a 351w with all the same mechanical parts, but the wiring is different, and I'm not getting a spark. If anyone knows anything that could help me it would be greatly appreciated! I wanna get back out on the water! I Can send anyone pictures if necessary I'm located in the Richmond Va area.

There's some info you could give that would make it easier to get some help with a wiring job.

Was the engine in the SN a Pleasurecraft 351?

Is the MC engine an Indmar 351?

I assume that you know the MC engine is normal rotation and the CC is reverse rotation so you'll need to make sure your transmission is set up for normal rotation and you'll need a new prop.

Assuming that the answers are Yes and Yes, it will be relatively easy to get your wiring adapted from one to the other.

Due to things like different alternator brands and locations some wiring and plumbing will need to be rerouted and/or modified depending on whether you're using the CC parts like the raw water pump, the alternator, thermostat housing, exhaust manifolds or using the parts on the MC engine

Does your 82 have an ammeter in the dash or a voltage gauge?

Does the MC engine have electronic ignition? Was the CC engine electronic

You can post pictures here with the site software or use a hosting service like IMGBB or you can send pictures to the e mail address in the PM that I sent to you.

That guy will probably help you out Wink

Pictures of both alternators showing the wiring connections on the back would be good, along with pictures of the distributor, coil and most anything else on both of the engines
