I need to find the manufacturer and series or part number for the 14 pin connector that connected the wiring harness to the Pro-Tec ignition module.

Backstory:
I have a 92 Nautique that has been running well until recently.  The coils failed on the Pro-Tec.  I think I can adapt new coils to that system, but I was in a hurry to get it back on the water and decided to remove the Pro-Tec system and swap in the Performance Distributors system.  In my haste, I cut the 14 pin connector out of the wiring harness and I need to find the female sockets that crimp to the wires and snap into that connector in order to restore that system in the future.  (I like the Pro-Tec system more than the Performance Distributors system due to the knock sensor and oil pressure safety.)

Anyone know what that part number might be?

Thanks,
Calvin

Calvin.....you have a Private Message

And in that Private Message you'll find a phone number for a friend in California who is also trying to use other coils in his Protec system.

He'll probably be your best source of information on coils and the connectors/sockets that you're looking for and for comparing of notes on what you're both trying to do.

Good luck

If you end up keeping the DUI there are various ways you can still use the oil pressure/water temp fault line to disable the ignition.  The sensors pull the line to ground when a fault occurs.  I wired mine through relays to disable the ignition so I have "two broken legs" mode instead of "limp mode" but if you don't like that idea someone could get electronically creative and create a limp mode or sound a warning and then kill the engine after a certain amount of time.

desertskier,

That's a really interesting idea.

I'm thinking something along the lines of a "normally closed" relay wired into the ignition line with the ground side of the actuator tied to the two sensors.  I could probably rig an indicator light on each leg to show which sensor tripped.  Anything wrong with that logic?

Thanks,
Calvin

KENO,

Thanks for the info.  I'll definitely check that out.

That's what I did but I also added a relay for the ignition voltage controlled by the key switch and connected to battery voltage at the engine.  I am only using the over temp switch because the "engine off" condition for the oil pressure switch is grounded or the fault condition.  So every time you turn off the engine the relay opens.  When starting it would take a few extra cranks for the switch to open as the oil pressure increased.  I have a schematic if you PM me your email I can send it to you.

Ah,  Thank you for that.  I had forgotten that the oil pressure would be zero before start.  I might try the simpler approach as I like the idea of having the oil pressure come up to a certain point before the ignition fires off.  It might prove to be too big a pain if it takes much cranking to get that oil pressure up, but it if it's only a few cylinders, I might consider it a "feature" instead of a "bug".
