My trailer needs new bunk carpet, the previous owner installed something cheap and it is worn through already (one year old).
What is the best stuff to use? I see different weights for sale, from 12oz to "heavy duty" 16 oz. Is there a brand y'all prefer? I found some on Amazon made by CE Smith that has a 16.1oz weight and pile thickness of 5/32" and claims "heavy duty".

I used bunk carpet from Dorsett Industries and Foss Mfg when I re-carpeted the bunks. My local marine supply shop had it in stock. Just ensure that it is designed for trailer bunks and you should be OK.

If you load with a shallow trailer position you will shorten the life of the bunk carpet. Sinking the trailer and floating the boat most of the way puts less wear on the bunks. It also makes it harder to line up and center the boat on the trailer.

My 93 Ramlin/Nautique trailer had two strips of carpet on the top edge of the bunk.
Did the same when I replaced mine a couple of years ago.

Thanks for the responses! Being new to this boat, I have been loading it by powering it up the bunks. My old I/O was a small, lighter boat and was easily loaded this way. I am going to learn differently this season and sink the trailer and float on as Michael suggested.
As a side note, I am considering converting my trailer that has a bow roller to a have bow stops, Ramlin style. That looks like it will help with alignment when floating on.
