We're thinking about picking up a pair of trailer wheel dollies to slide boats around in the shed but we're worried about capacity and such. 95 NWZ on the trailer is what...3500lbs? These have a rating of 2500 with the pair so was just seeing if anyone uses any before. Thanks gang, merry xmas

We had a set of the $44.99 ones and a Correct Craft Classic destroyed one of them on the 1st use.

that's what I'm worried about. I did look a little at the basic ones that you use a normal jack to set the wheel down on it but those looked a bit too much like snowmobile dollies, aka light/cheap/breakable

A friend of mine picked them up for me at Harbor Freight when they 1st came to Massachusetts, (he drove down from Maine). I had no idea what the weight limit was until you posted that link. We did exceed the 1000 limit, so I guess I shouldn't blame the manufacturer.

Love 'em!

I use the Merrick Standard Auto Dolly - 12"x16" (Set of 4). Part number M998002.

My Ski Nautique is kept inside my 3-car garage. The boat/trailer sits in between our cars. Since my trailer is a 2-axle unit, It is almost impossible to move it in tight quarters by hand. I have a floor jack and it takes about a minute to jack up one side of the trailer and slide Auto Dollies under each wheel. Once the boat/trailer is up on the 4 dollies, it easily rolls into position for a perfect fit.

I looked at the cheaper Harbor Freight units, but didn't' like casters. The Merrick units are high quality and will provide many years of service.

How hard is to control it within the pitch of a garage floor? Sometimes depending on the angle of my tongue jack my 76 can be a bit overpowering.

I have 4 over here the same China's finest,I use to move cars and trucks off our forecourt back into the restricted /permit parking in the road where they get a ticket and I can park.
As for using work ok screw in valve to open close bit of a. fiddle, had them over 2 years moved many cars and a few big pickups, do not like uneven/soft surface to run on,bumps /steps will stop them dead and will tip up or spin off.
On the last move one blew its oil seal I now need to fix.
Improvements they need, steel casters need to be bigger to roll better, better open close valve, carry handle thicker so not to cut into your hands.
But for the cost they get the job done.
Hope this some help.
Lets have a go

I too purchased 8 of the Harbor Freight dolly's thinking what a great tool they would be.
I put 4 under my 1996 Ski Nautique and when I tried to shove the boat sideways in my garage to save space they broke. I am now down to 4 working dolly's.   Save your money and buy the better brands, the harbor Freight type dolly is a waste of money.
I plan to buy the better dolly's to help with storage but the Harbor Freight version was just plain look-a-like junk!   I hate junk tools. These were nearly impossible to roll around. The bearings were so cheap the wheels would not rotate as needed so you had to add muscle to force them to rotate. It took 2 people to roll my boat on my flat garage floor with a smooth surface.   Did I make my point, don't buy the cheap Harbor Freight junk dolly's.   Sorry if they don't like this post but they are selling junk.
PS: I still have 4 working dolly's. When I am forced to use them I will lay on the floor and take a hammer and tap the wheels to turn them the direction I need the car/Boat to roll.
If you don't tap the wheels so they point the right direction they just snap off.
Each tire on your vehicle had 4 rollers that need to be tapped to change direction if you don't wish to have them snap off. Absolute junk product.

So, let me see if I am following you correctly. You’re saying the Harbor Freight ones are junk? Do I have that right?

I feel like I go to HF quite frequently, maybe once a month. But I have no clue what I’ve bought from there if anything. A few tool bags and I always make a point of buying their $0.33 super glue but I have a hard time with their 1/2” wrench being interchangeable with their 9/16.

As I said they ok for the cost, looked on the dollies rated 1500lb each...I got them from Ebay at the time buying 4 was the best deal.
Every locked car and pickup I have moved it did not set the alarm off.

UK1970 those are nice looking and I am guessing much more than 29.00 each.
Since only the wheels snapped on my HF dolly's I saved the steel thinking I would buy better rollers and make them useable but quality wheels would cost about $170 to fix these 4. For that amount I might as well buy the high quality dollys available for not much more.

If you need casters, Merrick Machine sells caster sets. You could re-wheel your broken dollies.

Hey, all Doctors need business!
I looked at ordering the new dolly wheels, they were expensive so I went ahead and ordered the Merrick 10,000 pound dolly's.   When you need them to work you have to have good ones.   I hope these fill that bill.
Thanks

I too have a few of the 2,500 merrick dollys. I'm not in a big enough hurry to need jacking dollys.

The merrick units are tough and as already pointed out RED.

As I said there not the best but get the job done if memory is correct back in 2015 I paid £270 shipped. Back then the dollar was around 1.5 to the £ so 101.25 each .

The Merrick dolly's at 10,000 pounds, (2,500 each) for a set of 4 were $192.00 dollars delivered. Have not received them yet but that was a decent deal.   The replacement wheels would not bolt up to my old HF dolly's.   I could have made adapters and made them work but the wheels were $170, Summit said they had them for $105 but could not ship them or tell you when they might have them in again.   And the new ones are RED, that seems to be popular and match my 95 Nautique!

I am using Tuff TMD-800C trailer dolly with a boat and trailer combination that totals about 3500-4000 pounds. It works very well and no hint of bending or bowing of any components on this dolly with use. The only minor quibble is that the plastic handgrips slip off the handles very easily. It was a simple matter to remove the grips, apply an appropriate adhesive, and slip them back on however.

I use this trailer mover to get in tight places.  The more tongue weight, the better it moves.
