16 Days away from the Ruckus and the final count for shirts needs to be tallied and given to Action Screen by Thursday Night or Fri Morning so if you're not down yet for a shirt then speak up now or you'll miss the boat on the Official T-Shirt of the 10th Annual St. Johns River Ruckus... You see the head count so please pip up and let us know what you plan to bring to feed the masses on Saturday. Working on getting a special guest or two to hang with us on Sat but there seems to be a Moomba Masters aftermath winding down so won't know if they're coming until a couple days before The Ruckus.... you'll know when I know.

Over at BOS when they talk about winter skiing, they refer to the temp as 76*. What that means is that is the total, as in air 40* and water 36*

Is the river bottom persnickety about type of anchor?

Will start packing the boat this weekend.

Really hoping to get to Tifton GA in time Wednesday for margaritas. I found an Econo Lodge next store to a mexican place. And if their margaritas are no good, there is a tex mex across the street.

Hotty Toddy lets go skiing!

Richard, the river bottom is soft and muddy so a standard mushroom anchor or river anchor should work just fine. The springs are a different story so if you have a Danforth anchor or box anchor that'll grab the sandy bottom you'll be fine. The current outta the springs is usually stronger than the river. If ya got two anchors then I'd bring em.

It sounds like I should leave the grapnel anchor at home then, which is my usual SN2001 anchor.

Thanks,

Richard

Something better than a River 3 pronged or mushroom type are not the best choice, I have found better luck with Danforth style short chain is key to quick set in sandy or muck bottom , there are a few spots in river with hard shell bottom. Their is some current in most places. I would say one anchor with 50' the other with 25' should be enough even if its breezy to do it properly. I have been going out there since '89 and its not a place for sissy lake anchors especially when a couple people tied up.

El Metate is highly recommended by a college classmate who is from the area. So there ya have it.

Two Days out from the Kickoff to the ski season and CCFan gatherings for 2019 and I wanted to give a quick update. Parramores called me this afternoon to touch base on our arrival and officially invite us to the Parramores Block Party Saturday afternoon. They're gonna smoke some food and have a band out by the pavilion or the office and held off doing it until we were gonna be there. So if our Rec Room shenanigans aren't enough for you then you can always hang out with the locals or maybe even sing with the band. The coffee makers at the cabins are regular ground coffee makers so if you're drinking Java in the morning leave the K-cups at home and go with the real thing.
Parramores also had a dock fire and lost about 10 slips so if your hoping for a covered slip you may not get one. Ramp is the same as always but was told that they'll check it out and see if there is still the drop off by the piling..

There is a breakfast place on Hwy 40 called the Rose Garden that is available for those that don't wanna cook it in the morning. They open at 7:00 and the ladies in the office say it's family owned and the food is good. They usually eat there twice a week.

Terry Fiest called me today to let me know that they had signs made up for us and we are to park to the right of where the seaplanes are docking. He's got an envelope waiting for us with wristbands for the show. All we gotta do is hand him the cash. We're getting in for $5 instead of $10 so PLEASE have the correct change for the tickets you requested as I'm not an ATM machine and can make change for the $100 bill you hand me.

Les will be joining us Thursday night at the Landing for adult beverages and dinner and will be out Saturday as well. Woody will meet us at the show and head up to Parramores late Saturday afternoon around 5 or so if ya wanna see him then he'll be there.

I hope y'all are ready for a River Ruckus. I know that I am. Everyone please be safe trailering down and take your time getting there. We won't start without you!
Finally; a big shout out to Alan & Dana at Action Screen Printing for getting the shirts done in time. They've been swamped at work and put in extra hours and days to get it all done including ours. So without further adieu...…..

BRING ON THE RUCKUS!

Thanks for the update, Tim! Thought I would tell you what my plans are in case anyone is looking for me. It will be a short visit I'm still in the process of getting the '61 engine reassembled after manifold repair and a valve job.   Assuming that I get It running in time, Phyllis and I will meet those going on the Oklawaha run at the Moss Bluff boat ramp on Friday morning, go on the run, then go back to Parramore's for Friday and Saturday. We have Otter Cabin booked for Friday and Saturday nights. If anyone is looking for parts that I might have in my garage, let me know so that I can bring them.
