Good morning, I had just put a rebuilt engine back into my 1991 excel nautique last week. With this process, I have gone through new fuel lines cleaned the gas tank it has an hei pertronix distributor on it. I got it running on the trailer and it runs great, will rev up and go in and out of gear fine. I set the timing at idle too at 10 degrees before tdc on the trailer too. I took it to the lake yesterday and it would stall going into gear and out. Once I would get it into gear, it would not rev up. It would only go about 6mph and I tried moving the distributor around and it would not go. Any ideas? Thanks in advance

One thing I forgot to add was that while I was messing with it, the tranny started to slip so I looked in the bottom and tranny fluid was laying in the bottom. I parked and went to the store and got more. I added some to get it back to the full line and it did not leak any the rest of the time?

My first thoughts would be to check that the firing order is correct with the cam that's installed. Second is you might want to post this under engine repair rather than what's new with correct craft fan

Josh,
Was the trans slipping before you dropped the new engine in? Was any work done to it and or the V drive? How's the prop shaft alignment?

Gary is correct that you will get better responses in the engine repair section. This section is for "What's new at CorrectCraftFan.com"

I will post it there now, lol, and the firing order is correct as I used the old cam and the same distributor that was in the old motor.

The Trans was not slipping before the new engine, and I was told that it was rebuilt when i bought the boat a year ago. It looks like it has been out anyway as it has been repainted.
