My temp guage stopped working on my 2000 Air Nautique GT-40. Do I need to special order a guage?

No special order. Teleflex still makes a replacement. You should be able to order from Zach at N3 Boatworks. 317-845-9253.

I assumed you got a VOM and checked the gauge out to eliminate other possibilities (i.e. sending unit)?

I will check the sending unit also. Will it be ordered in or will a regular auto store have it.

I believe the sending unit is specific to the PCM marinization as it has to interface with the engine's ECM.

Specific part number for the sender is R020024. Zack @ N3 will either have it in stock or can order it.

GT 40 Temp sender testing

The sender for the gauge has one tan wire that goes to gauge.   The gauge sender is on the front of the engine and located near the recirculating water pump. Within my post above is a link on troubleshooting the sensor with ohm meter.

A bit of sand paper on the ring terminal wire connector and tightening the nut on top of the sender cured my gauge issue.

I think there is a separate 2 wire temperature sending unit for the ECM.

GT 40 Temp Gauge Sender

Above link to R020002 is the temperature sender for the gauge - not the temperature sender for the ECM. This $16, one wire sender is the one I reference in my post above.

Isn't there two temp sensors? One for the ECM and the other for the dash. I think the one on the circ pump is the dash and the one on the intake is the ECM.

2 temp sensors and 1 temp switch. 1 temp for gauge, 1 for the ECM and 1 switch for limp mode to ECM,
