Anyone have good source on cam grinders for a reverse rotation I am building a 393 stroker. I have heard cam research in the past but didnt know if anyone else have any luck.

Cam research will caution against anything larger than their .460 grind (at the valve with 1.6 rockers). The limitation is in the blanks- and all companies willing to grind you a cam will be pulling from the same pool... So someone tell in you that you can go bigger is likely doing so at the potential risk of reliability. The cam is a good size for a warmed up 302 but is small-ish for even a mild 351, even if you step up to 1.7 rockers. Way small for a 393. I'd strongly suggest a custom RH roller, but break out the pocketbook.

Forgot to mention real gt40 heads NOT P's due to bad plug location to manifold, possibly 1.7 cobra rocker or 1.6 depending on cam recommendation. Its a flat tappet if I recall correctly but might go to a roller for longevity, I may wait to see what it looks like wear wise.

Gt40p's have improved spark plug angles on our upswept marine exhaust manifolds. Only automotive headers have issues with that.

Both gt40's and gt40p's would be poor choices for a 393ci engine, IMHO. They are after all, 302 heads. Those heads and the biggest RH flat tappet cam might make for a 325-350hp 4000-4400rpm motor. If you have higher hopes for your stroker, you might want to take a step back and reevaluate.

FYI, there are no RH roller cams sitting on anyone's shelf- but they can be custom made for a price.

350hp is fine any more it would have to add fuel and more parts for durability. This isn't going to be an AFR or Yates headed monster lol. 55mph is good enough. I've got a 93 cobra with 1000hp and 10pt chromolly cage if I need to go fast to get a hamburger.

I don't think you'll see 55mph if this is a 2001 and I'm close on the hp guess... Probably break 50 though. 400-450 are the numbers needed to flirt with mid 50's in that hull. Youll need a good sized prop, probably a 13x13 (430) or possibly a 13x14 (1598) to keep the revs down where you'll make power.

well 454 in my dads 86 ran 56mph thats a 2001 hull with 330hp. That boat was made to order by factory though by my dad. Just using it as a guage. Bobby wallace on here owns it.

Either the factory snuck in a HO 454 (425hp) or they dialed up the speedos quite a bit because a 330hp 454 won't push a 2001 or a BFN past 50-51. An extra 5mph means another 100hp on a 2001 hull.

I concur with Tim, a 330 doesn't make 55mph. Either the engine is very different or speedo is optimistic.
If your dad's 454 turns LH (STD rotation) its likely the HO which is a different animal

It's a 330hp RH engine. I've driven the boat. It never did 55...

It's got a cop motor, a 440 cubic inch plant, it's got cop tires, cop suspensions, cop shocks. It's a model made before catalytic converters so it'll run good on regular gas
