What are you trying to accomplish? Are you re-plumbing the whole system, but lack a reference point? Or are you just trying to understand how your system works?

I believe PCM used the same routing for the 454 as they used on the 351w.

Intake grate-->strainer-->tranny cooler-->RWP-->thermostat housing

From the thermostat housing, the water can take 2 paths. 1 goes down to the circulation pump, which fills the engine from the bottom up (block-->heads-->intake). It then goes back to the thermostat housing.

The other path is out to the exhaust manifolds. Water coming into the stat housing will primarily take this path (directly out the exhaust) when the thermostat is closed. The thermostat controls the flow of water OUT of the engine.
