Pulling New Steering Cable

   I understand that when pulling a new steering cable the new cable can be taped to the end of the old cable allowing you to pull out the old cable and pull in the new one at the same time. From which end is it easiest to pull?

	I understand that when pulling a new steering cable the new cable can be taped to the end of the old cable allowing you to pull out the old cable and pull in the new one at the same time. From which end is it easiest to pull?

	Jim, I think it might be easier to attach a rope or wire to the steering wheel end of the cable and pull the old cable out, then reverse the process with the new cable. The rudder end of the cable has a non flexible section that wont bend around corners.

	Update. I tied a nylon rope to to the front of the steering cable and pulled out the old cable from the rear. It took two people, one to feed the cable in under the bow (I removed the kick plate but I see now that may not have been necessary)and one to pull from the rear. I reversed the process by taping the new cable to the rope and pulled from the front. The whole process took about five minutes not counting the time to remove my rear seat, floor, and unfasten the old cable from the rudder control arm. Thank's Stan.
