I have a 68 mustang and the prop continues to turn when the selector is in neutral - looks like dexron in the transmission (red) Was told the wrong oil could cause this as well as a rough idle. Thanks

Some trannies just do that. Could be oil viscosity or leaky valve in tranny or something else. In any case, many people just live with it and the tranny does not seem to suffer. My friends '86 2001 turns a few rpms when in neutral and has for years (since he purchased boat) with no ill effects to date.

With that said, I assumed you are talking about just barely turning.

My 87 does exactly as David describes, and it works just fine!
