My 68 barracuda has a 318 chrysler with a carter afb. It requires you to move the lever to wide open to start the engine ,especially when hot. Any thoughts ,is this normal for this engine? Is it possible the choke is not operating properly? Thanks in advance,Jim

WOT starts are usually an indication of a flooded engine. Immediately after you shut off a warm engine, remove the spark arrestor and look down the primary and secondary throttle bores. If you see fuel dribbling into the bores, you have a problem with the carburetor and your engine is being flooded. Usually this scenario is caused by improper float adjustment or trash in the needle valves.
