Hi folks.
did not want to step on 78 restoration thread but similar question
Have taco spray rail pvc 1-1/4 x 1-1/4
I will screw in too with SS , I’ve identified areas of blocking behind
What’s best adhesive 5200,4200.
Loctite PL marine
I was running with out spray rail , kinda sucked until in plane.
Thx daryn

The instructions in the link below pretty vaguely tell you to use a "marine quick sealing caulk" with mounting holes drilled every 6 to 8 inches.

Are you trying to reuse the old holes that you must have filled with something when you took the wooden ones off?

Since you mention adhesive, most people would say the 3M 5200 has better adhesive qualities of the stuff mentioned.

The original spray rail was wood, cracked and old. I’m not comfortable trying to recreate wood, so found some taco semi rigid
Yes filled old holes with glass, added blocking behind to grad new screws
Pretty happy about new rail going on
Hopefully never need to remove, so probably 5200
I’ll check with taco marine instructions too

Forgot the link earlier

Removing something that has been adhered/sealed with 3M5200 is a lot easier with some heat from a heat gun. A couple hundred degrees is plenty.

The taco marine rail is very very nice
Perfectly extruded smooth shaped pvc
Appears pure no inclusions
Nice product. Shipping kills, but taco will cut and 12’ to cut shipping by $500.
Heated up with garage type propane burners to bend worked.

.

Can you explain what you're trying to say here?

What was your sealant/adhesive choice?

Sure that was code
Taco sells rail in 20’ lengths for long boat’s install one piece
Shipping from Florida to Calif $1000 for 20’ tube
However We SN folks real only need 12’
So taco will cut at 12’ and 8’, reducing shipping to $500
And using 5200 (700 psi strength)
appears 4200 is half the strength (300 psi).

It was not easy decision
But looked at other ideas for couple years finally decided I needed to do it
It has a great profile, like a wedge
Flat 3/4” top and fatter 1-1/4” concave underside for curling water over
