Gentlemen,
Question of the day,
2001 GT-40 in a Sport Nautique, I see that the Owner's manual recommends AWSF 22 or equivalent, but I'm curious about a platinum plug. Autolite web page shows Iridium XP25 as compatible.
Any experiences good, bad or otherwise?
Thanks for any and all help! KP

Autolite 764 is the plug for the GT-40 engine. You don't need platinum, iridium, etc. The Autolite 764 is a copper core plug in the proper heat range for your 351 engine.

Some places will tell you that 764's are being discontinued. That probably means there's only a 20 year supply left floating around out there.
Autolite 104 is the replacement for the 764 and is functionally the same plug, only difference is that the 104 has full threads on the body and the 764's are only threaded halfway.
If you look inside the plug hole on a GT-40 or 40P, it will be obvious why either will work.
Edit, you'll also see why an Autolite 25 physically won't work in a GT-40 or 40P head.
