Sometimes my boat won't start until I jiggle the shifter handle a little and make sure it is in neutral. I'm guessing there is a certain degree of safety built in, but it seems to be getting worse. Has anyone opened one up? Are there parts that can be cleaned or replaced? I'm guessing it may have some bad contact points or general wear.

adjust the cable slack and replace the neutral saftey switch on the tranny.

Definitely adjust the cable first- the NSS may be fine.
