GT 40 Funky start up

I just returned from my trip to bull shoals with my nautique and the boat ran like a top, as always. My only problem with the boat was at times after we would float for maybe 2-3 hours, then when I would try to start the boat up, it would behave as if it was carbureted. This is what I mean: when starting, I'd have to take the boat out of gear, and give it a touch of gas. The boat did this maybe 3 or 4 times, and I didn't see it as a major problem. Has anybody else experienced this?
