Came across this Nautique a year ago in January '07. I was doing a material pickup for the company I work for on a remodel home. Drivers who made the deliveries there earlier said to check out the classic Chevy's he has. Ok, that will be cool to see since I owned a 68 RS and 69 Z28 some years ago.

Knock on the door and he told me to go around back. Went in and yes he has several 60's classic restored and one work in progress. But what caught my eyes was three feet of the bow of a Correct Craft behind a wall. With a big smile on his face, he said I was the first one to ever notice the boat. Asked him what year it is as we walked over and he told me his story of the restoration he been doing. Said he is selling his other Nautique he was using this spring when he'll have this '79 done. Told me the year and color but wasn't quite sold for it wasn't what I was looking for. Then he tells me the hours and engine size and that caught my attention. We went to the lake two weeks later after an ice storm and she was a beauty, excellence condition. Even had fewer hours on the boat than he told me (123 hrs). By the first of March the '89 was in my garage.

Mid April came around and I pulled her out of the garage on a nice warm day. My wife and the kids were waiting for it to fire up after I hook up the hose from the house. Nothing! Wife just shook her head and said, "You're not buying another one!" That was fine with me because it was an easy fix. Bought an electronic ignition kit and it was off to the lake the following weekend. Have done some maintenance repairs/replacements due to the age of the engine (hoses, fuel pump, etc) and some cosmetic fixes since then but this girl looks new. Get many compliments.
