This American Skier was originally bought "just to get us by" until my 62 Higgins (being restored) was done. I had watched the ’skier in the For Sale section here for months that winter. I never got too excited over the ad, because of the six beater. Finally, knowing the Higgins wouldnt be in the water that summer,I decided, for the price it would be better than no boat. I contacted the owner, struck a deal, and brought her home.

It was in desperate need of some TLC,in fact my wife’s first words after seeing it were "I cant believe you bought that!" ..and.. "I’m NOT going to ride in it!"

My plans were to clean it up a little bit, use it , and sell it. After many hours of wet sanding and buffing, the ol girl started to look pretty good and my wife decided it wasnt so bad after all.

Well,"just cleaning it up" has gotten a little carried away. After three years of working on her including ...replacing the floor, all the gauges, new upholstery and carpet, stainless steel battery box, rebuilt carb, re-wiring, adding wind wings and ski mirror, bilge blower and scoops, depth sounder, new coil and voltage regulator, etc, etc, the ’ol girl is looking pretty good again.

I originally thought I’d just use it til I got the woody done, but with that classic look and sound, she’ll probably be around for a while!
