I am looking for a Ski Nautique 2001 in the Maryland area. Hard to find. I might buy a 1990 Ski Nautique due to its condition. I have read the notes on the wake of the 2001 and i need a boat for wakeboarding. Should I not buy the 1990, even after i weight it down, and wait for a 2001? i need some help here.

I sold my 88 2001 in may and bought a 95 ski nautique open bow. My son is the wakeboarder in the family, and tells me that the wake for boarding is almost identical to the 88. I'm sure some ballast would make it even better.

Im not much of a wakeboarder, but Ive skied behind both hulls. From what I understand, the 2001 hull has a better wakeboarding wake, even when weighted, probably because its 7" narrower. However, the 90-96 hull has some potential- its much better than the 97+ wake for wakeboarding.

The slalom wake is better on the 90+ boats, but thats a moot point if youre only going to be wakeboarding. If thats the case, then I suggest increasing your search area and waiting for the right 2001 to come along. Youll be much happier in the long run getting exactly what you want. A 2001 should be a little cheaper since its older, so thats another bonus.

Tell us about the 1990 you're looking at. Sounds like you found the boat you like already. I know one thing for sure, the 1990 is much quieter than the SN2001's. I don't think you can go wrong with either boat.

Good Luck,

Ken

Check the wake pictured on my post subject field: "Rate the wake". It might give you some idea what to expect for a wake on a 90-95 SN.
