Hello,

My Grandfather bought an '83 Ski Nautique 2001 new. My Father inherited it, and then it came to me. It is pristine, and we have always taken care to not wear on it or damage it. The family has vehicle OCD, likely due to us being 3 generations of Naval Aviators. I do most work myself, but I don't like chasing electrical gremlins if I can avoid it. We have have to jiggle the throttle to get the starter to actually engage, I'm told likely due to a failing safety switch/starter cutout. This has been going on for a few seasons. Now, no amount of juggling will allow the ignition to engage the starter. I'm new to the area, and there is one Nautique dealer. When I dropped it off today, they told me this safety switch in the drivers throttle handle housing is "extremely hard to find", and they can't bypass it due to Coast Guard regulations. Anyone have advice?
Thank You in advance.

I'd go to the dealer and haul the boat back home and fix it yourself with help from people here. Those switches are plentiful and you'll get plenty of help here with no labor charges involved.

It's probably "extremely hard to find" if they're looking in the throttle handle since it's not there. It's on your transmission and easy to find.

It's also easy to find the switch at (just to give you a name) Discount Inboard Marine.or a variety of other places.

It could also just be a cable adjustment or a worn cable end.

Jeff,
That Nautique dealer should be reported to corporate!!!!! They have absolutely no business selling Nautiques since they obviously don't know what they are doing. Get the boat back and in a hurry!!!

Just if you care to, who's the dealer that thought the NSS is in the Morse.
