For myself my favorite is the 85 to 86 Ski Nautique. I like the overall looks of them. The straight windshield, The graphics on the boat. The notched transom with the wooden swim platform. Of course having the bow and stern loops on the deck of the boat.. Which is nice if you want to hoist the boat in the boathouse.

I don't have just one - and I think you'll find a thread like this from a couple of years ago ....

Late '60's Barracuda - looked fast and powerful even sitting at the dock
Mid 70's Ski Nautique - classic ski boat lines
'93-97 Sport Nautique - love the looks of that hull

Personnal preference for me though I prefer the straight across windshield though. The split does look nice though. I have a neighbor that has an 88 2001 model in blue. It's a very beautiful looking boat.

I kinda like my 1993. That sloped transom is pretty cool. I have had a crush on the 1985 boat since I was 17.,.

There's nothing wrong with liking a sloped transom. It's ones own personal preference.

Another favorite would be either a 1983 (the last year right?) Mustang in a black accent stripe and tan interior or a 1980-81 Baby blue Ski nautique.

Any barracuda or mustang SS. Love my sports too. 1089 & 2000. The slant transom on the 89 was perfect for watching fireworks. And the notch great for soaking passangers!

Backchose, the barracuda is a classic. I have a neighbor who might still have their's. I haven't seen it in a while. The boat has a red hull with a white stripe that goes down the side.

I am partial to the 82-86 with the hump up front. The tri-color stripe of the 82-84 kind of tips it over the 85-86 stripe, but the delux interior tips the 85-86 to me.

Why, probably because this is the era when I started running the course and going to tournaments. The SN2001 and Mastercraft Stars and Stripes were the best of the best.

The mid 1960's to the mid 1970's Mustangs, Skylarks, Tahoes, Barracudas, Wildcats, Freeports, Rivieras. The Freeport...you don't hear or see much on these great boats. On the NH lake I'm on, back in the early '70's, we had a few of them. One was a Candy Apple red with ivory deck I/O, powered by a mercruiser 165. The boat silently ran across the lake like a whisper and moved right along. Loved that boat. Found its remnants next to a town garage back in the early '90's. My boat mechanic bought it a few years later and had plans to maybe getting around to restoring it. I think he gave up on it. Too bad.

Their all sexy, but, if I had to pick one, it would probably be the '86 Ski Nautique. Last year of the original 2001 design with that deck......got the hump on the hood. Single piece windshield. Deluxe interior with rotomolded bases. Rounded rear transom on deck that started in '77. And wait for it.....last year of pylon with ring and finger!!!!

Runners up.....

'79 SN
'90 SN (especially the blue)

Edit: By the way, a thread similar to this was done several years ago trying to figure out what the year would be for all CCF members boats when looked at as an average. It turned out to be '81 or '82 when all the ciphering was done.

Pardon my ignorance but what are you referring to when you say ring and finger on a pylon?

Posted By: davidg
Date Posted: August-16-2015 at 1:27am
Its the old style of pylon used from the earliest days up through '86. The top of the pylon has a ring with a metal "finger" protruding out from the center base of the ring which was used to attached the rope, as well as hang the rope on when not skiing. Its hard to explain, but, you'll know it when you see it. New pylons just had a round machined top with a slot machined in for the rope to ride in.

Hmmmm wonder if my boat was built at the beginning of '87 with some left over '86 parts because my pylon is exactly what you described. Round loop on top with a "finger" pointing towards the bow of the boat at an upward angle.

I believe I do remember reading on this site that this was a definite possibility. The ring and finger style pylons are considered very cool and very desired. You have a very rare boat!

I'm also in the '85 camp. Love the lines the two hood vents one piece windscreen and the instrument pod.
But I also like the looks of the slant back's. Of those I have to go with the '95 Signature Edition, that boat is just down right SEXY!!!!

I'm typically not a fan of the dark green, however it looks really nice with the tan trim on the 95 Ski Nautique Signature Edition.

Besides the 85 to 86 Ski Nautiques, I also like the 90 to 93 as well. I'm partial to the straight windshield and flat deck on the bow.

I will say this I'm not a fan of the wakeboard towers. They take away the look of the boat. That's just me though.
