Jan,
Looks good! I do suggest you change the title to something like "resto-mod". Many do when they do not do a true restoration. I also suggest a USCG flame arrestor. If what's on top of you carb is not USCG approved, you're driving a bomb!

WOW! She is a beauty! I like the orange exhaust manifolds! CLEAN! You have any before pictures? It looks like you did a lot of work.
You should have pulled her to White lake this weekend.

The carb is protected by a K&N marine flame arrestor as can be seen by the purple filament vs a white one. It doesn't matter to me if you call it a restoration or a resto-mod. It's been re-built way better than when it left the factory and will easily last another 50 years.

Great that you are safe. I mentioned it since I have seen automotive air filters. Sorry that I'm not educated with the purple VS: the white. Nice bling!!!

It doesn't matter to me ether that you aren't familiar with the English language.

Drop it Pete. I am guessing that Webster didn't consult with the Association of Cranky Boat Snobs when he compiled the dictionary

Love the acronym Larry. I'll certainly remember it.

Doc: Yes the windshield is the original glass windshield...and you're right. We're very lucky to have it.

8122pbrainard: My mother was an English teacher. A damned good one. I am pretty much the go-to person in my extended family for spelling, proof-reading, syntax errors, enunciation, pronunciation, letter drafting, etc. Speaking of proof reading, I assume you meant "either," rather than a gas. Actually, I'm sorry that you are not familiar with basic civility. Every forum seems to have one guy like you: an over-bearing, self-righteous, and insecure *************** with delusions of self-worth whose every post is an effort to elicit a response and thus garner attention. You're transparent and pitiful. I'm through with you...permanently.

This kills me everytime someone goes off on Pete. So hard to convey someone's personality through words on a forum. For anyone thats ever had a beef with Pete on here and hasn't met him in person its a shame. Pete is completely different in person compared to here. Very personal, friendly, and respective.
Just saying....

I believe he has done an excellent job of conveying his personality through words...as have we all. No one gets a second chance at a first impression. I have no use for people like him, your subjective opinion notwithstanding.

Hi Jan,
Awesome restoration! I would love to see more pictures of the process. Are you the restorer?

As a former restorer myself, I think it is important not to misconstrue the terminology so to avoid misrepresentation.

I noticed "customization" was used for the Century Ski Dart. So maybe more accurate for the Barracuda as well.

Yes, I have been restoring vintage boats full time since 2005 when the "Matriarch" restoration was completed...as an amateur restorer at the time. We're a three-man restoration operation on Lake Keowee in NW SC. So far, I've restored five Correct Crafts, all modified at the client's request: two SNs, a Ski Dart, Barracuda, and a Debonnaire.

Concerning "before" photos....my website has several boats listed at the top of the page. Each is a restoration photo log with photos taken all through the restoration process. We've "jazzed-up" all of the Correct Crafts...at the client's request, of course, but have tried to do it tastefully. Website: NautilusRestorations.com

Jan.....looking at your membership date you've been around long enough (and if you're a daily reader) you should well aware that Pete's bark is really loud and obnoxious at times but he really is a pretty laid back kinda guy once you get to know him. If you ever look up Purist in wikapedia his picture is with the definition. Don't be too hard on him.

I do disagree with some of his verbage sometimes as it can easily be read as this guy is a piece of work but it's just Pete!

Really nice work!! If you are charging relative to what the final product looks like would imagine the bill may exceed the real value of the boat. Either way your projects do always look really well done and very professional, awesome, thanks for sharing!!

Love your Barracuda Nautilus! I will head over to your website after this. As a complete novice in restoration, I wish I had closer contacts that love these boats as much as I do. If I hear one more guy that I hire to do work on my boat call it a Coastal Craft...a Chris Craft...etc

And just want to add how Facebook commenty ^^^^all that up there was getting haha...I choose to ignore anything I don't like reading anymore.

Continued success to you!

I'm finishing the "re-do" of a 1986 Ski Nautique. Like the 1982, it will have mahogany side panels and trim but this one will also have a mahogany dash panel. There are lots of other non-stock appointments such as a CD player, 4 speakers and an extra amp for the sub-woofer built into a compartment we added under the bow. All appointments have been chosen by the owner who is also the original owner. Anyone interested can see start-to-finish restoration photos that will be posted on my website...but not here.
