So generous Jbear donates a bunch of skis and equipment to the Cypress Gardens Ski Team!! They showed up to the club brought by one of the Mom's, and she kept talking about this nice man, John, that likes to barefoot. She goes on and on about how nice he is, and how he would be a good addition to the team and how he likes to barefoot with his buddy on the next lake over, and I realize she is talking about Jbear!! Thanks Jbear. Update, so now my son tells me through the power of the innerweb and Facetime, it's Jbear's Birthday! He just hit mid life, so many more years to you John!

seriously guys.....sometimes old used equipment comes in..lots of lakes hereabouts..and rather than selling it for a couple of $ I would rather pass the stuff on to the team. Very nice single lady who has her daughter on the team. In fact I believe the daughter is young Thomas' double partner. I will admit to showing her how we used to 'flip-up' to start our doubles. The Mom loves the atmosphere on the team. As we all know..skiing is just great for families. Don't know if the team has a budget..we have been to a couple shows and they 'pass the hat'. Awesome show too...old school..just like they used to do at the Gardens. I believe they have a website but seascamper will have to link you guys to it if he is interested.

Heres the link: http://cypressgardenswaterskiteam.com/" rel="nofollow - Cypress Gardens Ski Team
Yes, we work on donations, so those skis are going to work well. Generally if they are not what a ski team needs, we give them to the kids. We are REALLY in need of things the kids need to progress into. They need jump skis and bindings, and the young ladies need to progress into swivel skis, and that ain't cheap!!! We also need a club air chair/sky ski and all sizes of wetsuits. We also need the old, cheap bindings that come on combo skis, because we have a number of "pyramid and doubles and flag" skis which are large wide skis to give the skier as much surface area as possible to keep whatever they are lifting afloat. Currently we are making our own bindings out of rubber because we have so many skis, and they are "one size fits all. That is not working for the kids at all. I am trying to buy up cheap used skis to just use the bindings that simply screw down and then you move the tabs to lock the skis, and I am saving the skis to build a "Tiki Hut" roof using the skis as part of the roof. I don't know that it will be out there for Wrecking Crew 3 but possibly for WC4.

From what I saw you guys are decently equipped compared to many clubs up here! It's BYO for swivel skis and wetsuits, usually jump skis too.

No Chris,we are not.I am not sure when that was taken but it looks warm and those are the old shirts, so that may have been taken before we even joined! HW, I agree the team has some great facilities. The problem with the jump skis and swivel skis is they are so expensive that many kids can not afford them and then they can't ski because they do not have the equipment. You know the deal with jumpers, so we are trying to get a couple sets of team jumpers so the kids can get a chance to jump.
