did we ever decide if this was the best weekend for this? I for one am solidly in favor of moving it to before or after the boat show. after might make more sense so that anyone dragging one or more boats down to that can relax for a few days before the party starts.

We made it to the reunion for only one of the days, and we missed the majority of that day due to weather. We were able to make dinner but thats about all last year; we hope we can make it this year and if the dates don't change (from the 27/28/29) we can make it!

What would be the best place to stay that would split the difference between Mt. Dora and SSJR campground with the CC boating.

There is a very good chance that Pauly-Banana and his wife Marilyn will be able to attend for the first time.

Keep the info coming so we can make plans early enough.

Looking forward to seeing you all there!

There's really no place between Paramore's and Mt. Dora to stay and split the difference.

Ok, someone said that we should stay in a Howard Johnson's near Mt. Dora, I think that was the name of the hotel. Does that sound like a good place to stay, or are there any other places that you would recommend?

Mt. Dora and Tavares have several decent hotels, just none are "half way" between here and St. Johns, they are all on the Tava-dora side. The only one I can speak for is the Best Western on 441 in Tavares, it was nice and should have ample parking for a boat.

Keep in mind at Parramores on the St. Johns, you can rent a cabin too, it's not just a campground.

Posted By: Morfoot
Date Posted: January-03-2015 at 10:33am
Todd pretty much nailed it. Most CCFans usually stay at Parramores campground in a cabin for the long weekend. Some do the tent thing, some stay in hotels in Astor and finally there is a crew that rents a house around the corner for the weekend.

There is a iffy boat launch at the campground and some covered boat slips available so that is why most stay there. Those that do go to the boat show will just make the drive there. Last year was the exception to the norm with CC being the featured Mfg of the show.

Most all of the boating, sking, footing, takes place on the St. Johns river itself off the horse shoe channel where the campground is located. (Google Map Paramores, Astor Fla to see what I mean) We have been able to ski on Lake George itself but the stars have to align along with the planets to do so. The lake is so big and open that it doesn't take much of a wind to create rough conditions and white capping waves. Look at years past in the reunion thread for pictures and the usual events that take place.

Mr. Ralph wants and is planning on coming out again this year to pay us fans a visit on late Saturday afternoon. Hopefully the weather will be on on side this year as the last two years hasn't been all that great.

My thought is that if you do stay outside of Astor you may be making the trip to Parramores a bunch especially if you are wanting to ski, boat and hang with the rest of the crew.

Well, a little late, but the Smith family finally reserved accommodations at the Famous Parramores Fish Camp, homebase to the CCF festivities. Seems they like to shuffle the family around each year, as the previous years two "cabins" have been spoken for. We will be in the "Turtle Mound" this year, a luxurious THREE bedroom, TWO bath palatial trailer, er, cabin sitting just yards from the exotic St. Johns river. As always, we anticipate a fantastic time and are looking forward to seeing old friends and meeting new ones. If you are "on the fence" on this one, trust me and jump in, you will be glad you did!!

Just a quick question about the Mt. Dora boat show. Since Correct Craft was the topic mfg last year, will there be many Correct Crafts at this years show?

I know that Reidp was planning to bring a few - combined with some of the somewhat local regulars that should be good for ten boats anyway.

We had all intentions of returning to Fl this spring but this year has gotten pretty busy for us with another college graduation and our sons wedding so looks like we'll be sitting this one out and shooting for a return in 2016. Have fun and post lots of photos. At the very least this year we'll be at Green Lake so hope to catch up with as many as possible then.

Well I could possibly do both weekends. Got Vaca to burn but I'd have to split lodging costs for a few days or tent camp for a few.Don't have that kinda $$$ to spend at Paramoresfor 9 days..... Could also just drive down with Miss Scarlett the first weekend, fly home from Daytona then fly back on Thursday for the official weekend.

I'll be on a work trip in Memphis till the 19th. Sounds like I should head south after instead of going back to the cold. That's Zoe's spring break week so her and little man could stay till Sunday. Don't see a reason the Mars men and Picture Pat can't stay till the 23rd.

There's a small chance Dad will be taking his RV down that weekend and keeping it in FLA till the end of April. Might as well hook a boat on for some river time.

It's only 2 months away and the chatter has been pretty quiet around here about the first CCFan gathering of the year. Several members have conflicting schedules that will not allow them to go on the 27-29th.

These fans have suggested moving it up a week so that more could possibly attend but many have already locked in their cabins last year for this years River Run. CCFans are still wanting to get out from Old Man Winters grip and hit the water with their boat buds so it looks like we're going to have a River Run 2015 Part I AND Part II.

So for those of you who can make it the weekend of the 20th then head on down and those who are going the 27th then we'll see you there. I myself should be able to do both and just stay the week. So without talking about it for a week or two we'll just set in stone NOW!

Come which ever weekend that works for you and lets play on the river for a week if you can swing it. It will probably be a small group of Fans but chime in NOW on what weekend you're going and list here...

That being said we'll stick with the traditional COOKOUT on Sat night so list if your coming and what you're bringing.

The Farmer's (Mike, Marsha, Michael-9 & Mason-9) already booked the posted weekend of March 27-29th. This will be our first reunion after several years of missed attempts. We are looking forward to meet all those fellow Correct Craft enthusiasts and hope to start a new tradition of attendance every year. We will be bringing our RV and will contribute to the festivities in any way we can.

If Ok? I will be bringing BBQ picnic style pork ribs with potato salad.

Laurie and I will be down for the weekend of the 21-22nd so we can hang with Chris, Adam, Tim and any others that are planning to be there then so we can get some extended river time in as we'll be spending time back at the boat show the following weekend.   Last year we were just pulled in too many different directions and missed all the best river festivities. I just got my Parramores RV spot reservation.

If Parramore's allows my reservation to be transferred, I would much prefer some time on the river with the family and some new friends. The boat show is great but does take up a good portion of time, and not really the reason for my first reunion experience that I was looking forward to. That's just my personal opinion.

Mike....the Dora boat show isn't a normal thing that we do, Some attend, most don't. Last year was an exception to the "normal" SJRR. The normal is playing on the river from the time you get there till whenever folks decide to get off the water. Fans start arriving Thurs or sooner to enjoy playtime on the river. Friday is all day river sports or head down to the boat show if you choose. Their are some really cool old boats there whose beauty and wacky design are second to none. Saturday is either a run down to Hontoon island which is about a 1 hour trip where fans have grilled burgers and dogs waiting on us. then a 1 hr trip back to Parramores or a run out across Lake George to the Silver Glenn Springs. Some playtime on the lake/river before Sat nights visit with Mr. Ralph. and cookout. Sunday most head out but some stick around for more fun on the river.

This being your first Mini might I suggest that you stick to your original plan if it works better for YOU! Mr.Ralph is truly a joy to listen too and a treat you don't wanna miss IMHO. He loves to visit and tell us more stories of the Meloon family and the Correct Craft boats that they've built. He is 97 years old and looks forward to visiting with us! When approached last year about getting out of the sun at the boat show (when CC's were the featured boat) his response was " No, I'm going to stay right down here with my people!'....The man's a hoot!

Bottom line is go to the show if you want but I'd bet 98% won't and those that do will go on Friday. Hope that helps you or anyone else that is coming to their first River Run!

Parramore's will transfer your reservation if space is available. As of yesterday, they still had spots open for the weekend of the 21st. Still on the fence as to if I will be moving my reservation. Kids are out of school the week from March 16-22nd for spring break. This would be much easier for me to get the kids to be part of the festivities and also have a longer stay at Parramore's versus the weekend of the 28th. I would hate to miss Mr. Ralph but may have to just drive up solo the following weekend to hear him speak.

Since spring break is the week of March 16th. I have rescheduled my visit to Parramore's from the 19-22nd. This will work best to have the most amount of time on the water and hopefully able to meet some fellow Correct Craft fans as well. I have 2 RV spots reserved (74 & 75). Bringing the in-laws to help manage the kids for more adult time! If any other members are up there this weekend, I would still enjoy a get-together cookout if interested?

Posted By: Morfoot
Date Posted: January-31-2015 at 12:34pm
Mike, I know there will be a small contingent of CCFans there as scheduling issues didn't allow them to attend the following weekend but still wanted some river/CCFan time. So I say, why not make it a week long event if you can? I would imagine that the few of us that are there the weekend before would be up for grilling something out on the 21st. My vote is steaks and we can use the grill at the Campground. The kids should be fine at anytime as we really aren't too wild. We spend most of the day on the water and in the evening sit round drinking cocktails. If the kids can hang on the water all day, then they'll be fine.

On that note, I do have Pro Driver Lester Todd's # too and he told me a couple years ago that we could come to his private lake where he and Cindy have a slalom course and a jump set up to use so that might be something worth checking into. They don't live that far from Astor and always enjoy hanging out with us Correct Craft Peeps.

I am officially out for the weekend of the 27th. My wife and daughter are travelling to Colorado for some family visits and skiing (the other kind). Cindy and Lester's private lake sounds interesting. Maybe I can shoot down for the previous weekend, but I seriously doubt a St. John's River trip for me this year. I would like to see the running list of folks making it down the week before.

So far I see:

Farmer family
Reid and Laurie
Chris and dad

Tim M.?
Adam?

Jerry, The Smith Clan and Mr. Ralph won't be the only ones there. As my earlier post had stated a few of the regular SJRR attendees cannot make this years River Run on the 27th for conflict of that thing we call JOB. Because Mini's HAVE been and ALWAYS will be about us getting together as a family, misfits, skibums, etc. It had been suggested that we START a weekend before and go till the next weekend if YOU can afford to do so. I can get the time off so Reid and I are going down the 19/20th and staying till the 30th....What are we gonna do that whole time? Heck we don't know but we'll have boats, plenty of water, and loads of CCFans who live in Fla that we can hook up with.

So here's who we have coming so far and if you are attending then pipe up so folks know who and when you're coming. You've got less than 2 months to get those CC's ready for a run down the St. Johns River.

Todd, I'll be doing the camping thing the first weekend probably on Reids reserved RV slot. Laurie is not staying the whole week but Reid and I are... We will either take the Nautimobile wherever we go or jump in whatever tow vehicle I have maybe attach a boat to it and go ?????? We'll either leave the RV there at Parramores and come back to it on Thursday or take it with us depending on where the "wind" takes us.

We may end up in The Keys on Monday....The plan is.......there is no plan. Land Pirates we be!

Haven't reserved a camp site yet but we're still planning to bring the RV and will have the 01 Reverse Gel SN in tow. At some point we have to make a trip to Ramlin in Orlando (long story for another thread) but want to get as much water time as possible.

So here we are at the beginning of February and this is all the chatter about River Run? Man y'alls brains must be frozen over. Looking at past SJRR threads the talk started in January and lasted for 3 months. looks like the few of us that are attended are gonna have a great time! Looks like we might grill Steaks and Shrimp instead of burgers and dogs.

Is this all whose coming?

We will be there again this year. Going to try to do both weekends. Booking a RV site for the whole week, so we can possibly stay some during the week also. If work doesn't get in the way. Our oldest son Tab will be able to make one of the weekends with his 96 SN. So count us in for 4 or 5 people both weekends.

My schedule is still way up in the air, if I can make it then it will still be the weekend of the 20th, and probably part of the next week. Going to have another trip to the land of Oz planned right around there, I'm doing my best to push it back. Will know by the end of the week.

Okay so we are about a month out on this and here is the list so far as to who is coming.

Dave, Jbear, Eddie...any you guys coming out from Orlando?

I know the plan is up in the air for some of our seasoned River Runners as their job has them running elsewhere..... Looks like with a small turnout for this years run we'll be doing Steaks and Shrimp on the Barbee!

Probably unlikely Tim. Have lots of issues that I'm dealing with right now and some uncertainty.

Baby girl is expecting Grandbaby #4 in a few weeks
Job is getting eliminated
Wife is really busy for tax season
In-laws been living with us for two and a half months and have no idea when they're leaving

That's just for starters but everything's good. We're healthy, happy and certainly nothing like you're going through losing your Dad. If I do manage to make it, it'll be just for the day.
Wrecking Crew Part Deuce will have to be my SJRR this year.

Sue and I will be around. Since we live so close we won't be staying overnight but we will visit during the day and be sure to come for the barbeque and for Mr. Ralph. If there is a trip to Hontoon Island we can cook the burgers again. If anyone needs free firewood for fire pits at Parramores, I have lots, some of it split (and much more un-split if you can swing an axe and feel like playing lumberjack).

I just woke up to the fact that we're about a month away from SJRR time. I don't have time right now to read back through the thread to get up to speed on what's going on. Dang, I have an even scheduled for the 27th that is absolute commitment. Looks as though I might only be able to drop by for a short while on Sunday. Probably won't bother to dig out the '61.

Art, I'll give you a call here to catch you up on with what's going on this year. Need to ask you a favor anyway. Don't worry about not dragging the 61 out. As always it will be good to see you and besides it's probably been awhile since you drove a 70's or 80's boat anyway.

Okay gang we are less than a month away from the annual gathering of CCFans down in Fla and seeing as how there is a small group of folks coming down this year I say we still do the cookout Saturday as mentioned. We can get the Grill from Parramores and drag over to where ever and grill out whatever you decide to bring. Or we could pass the hat and buy a bunch of steaks and shrimp and do those. Maybe some taters on the grill too. Something simple.. That will leave more time on the water for us all whether it be rafting up, or water sports. We'll just keep the original....The Plan is there is no Plan.... What cha think?

Mike, I don't think Mr. Ralph will be there this year unless The Godfather talks to him. The Boat Dr was the point man on Mr. Ralph coming and since he apparently isn't coming then I would guess Mr. Ralph isn't either.

Because of the split weekends of this event and lower attendance this year, I personally am uncomfortable asking Mr. Ralph to come up and talk to maybe 12 people.

Andy glad to hear that you're coming but which weekend?

You too Dave!

Also I got a call from Joe C. He and Ellen sold their SN but still own the "other CC" which will be in the Dora show. Said that they wanted to come 'Hang with the Gang' on Sat afternoon Eve. Told him he was more than welcome...Once a Fan always a Fan!

So I had a chat with Reid the other day and he said a couple of regular SJRR attendees who aren't regular bloggers were coming.....Looking like a pretty good turnout for a weeklong River Ruckus!

Again....I will bring enough charcoal for the grill for both Saturday night cookouts so bring something you can throw on and maybe a bag of chips, who knows maybe we can throw some foil wrapped taters on the grill or even get Buck and Kats to provide a Vege of some sorts if we let Laurie know ahead of time... Pipe up, shoot me message, or pick up the phone to let me know what y'all think?.... 18 days and counting.....Warm up the water Fla Boys cause it's River Run time!

Okay so here is the latest and greatest. I talked to Art yesterday for a bit to give him the low down on what's going on with this Part I & Part II bit.... He said that he really wants to attend and get the 61 out of hibernation so that she's running good for The Masters in May. He tentatively plans on bring it up for Part 1 so she can shake loose the cob webs. This should give those that are there an opportunity to ride, drive and possibly ski behind the Flagship SN....

He also contacted Les via Email about River Ruckus and possibly coming over to his place to take him up on his offer to use the course which Les said sure thing come on over so add that to the list of things to do. ....17 days till Ski Season Kick Off for us non Floridians!
