Our club boat was sold early this year (Malibu TXi). We get a new one every year so I have hundreds of pulls (both driving and behind) new boats with Zero Off (heretofore ZO). My 2000 SN is one of the "newer" boats in the fleet of member's boats so I volunteered for it to stand in for the rest of the season as the club boat.

This prompted me to finally pull the trigger on http://www.perfectpass.com/?q=upgradeoptions#bottom" rel="nofollow - Z-box which is a 400.00 upgrade to an existing StarGazer system. Seems pretty expensive but I realize now that I just saved 40 grand by making my poor old boat relevant to today's tournament slalom skiers. It adds not only a software upgrade but an accelerometer box which gives the system input as to the rate of deceleration due to hits from the skier. And it's all configurable 8 million ways to ensure that the system works for your rig and setup.

The system isn't good, it's GREAT. I'm consistently getting segment times within a few hundreths with very consistent exact 1-ball times. The boat doesn't run away from me in any segment and I can hear the engine revving in the videos and while driving (which is very cool). I went from this to a tournament Saturday and the boats there (Txi and Centurion) felt like no adjustment was necessary (ran 3@28 in a huge headwind, 40 degrees F)

I also like the no-magnet course mapping feature.

This upgrade has turned the boat into a whole new rig. This system combined with the great tracking and wake of the TSC1 hull is a huge win and I'm in love with my boat all over again.

Here's a pass from this morning. If you put headphones on and listen carefully you can hear the engine react. This is 34mph/-22 off, little shoulder heavy but felt easy and smooth. Even on our short setup the system settles in and pulls great times over and over. Money well spent.

Nice skiing. Are you replacing the MC with a NWZ?

OT, but yes if I can. MC is for sale, 8,500.

sweet setup... and thanks for posting this Joel! I currently have the paddle wheel three event and to go to the 3 event stargazer zbox it is only $240 more than the stargazer! Still a grand and we don't hit the course as much as we should but something to consider! Of course for a few grand more I could swing by and pick up that black metal flake S&S from you

I am looking for a 196. If the kids get serious about tournament skiing, that is probably the way I will go...

Joel, did you ever upgrade your '93 to SG? If so how does it compare being a carb?

Never did put speed control on the 93. That boat doesn't ever see the course. Lots of hand throttled trick skiing and some free skiing slalom is all it sees. I'm getting complaints on the wake with that boat from the "Boss" so it may have to be moved on soon anyway.

the wake bothers me on my 93 when I'm free skiing but in the course I don't notice it at all.
