I just bought an acme 540 and I like it however I'm wondering if running a 4 blade will reduce the center bump or soften the wake overall?

It might reduce it very minimally but unless you're Andy Mapple I don't think you'll notice it much. Wake and rooster is 85% determined by hull design and 14.9% weight distribution. I noticed an ever so slight improvement on my 76 rooster with a 540, like the remaining .1%

Our resident prop expert might be busy this weekend but I'm sure he'd tell you no. A modern 3 blade will out perform a 4 blade on a DD boat.

Ya maybe I just need to get used to the wake..my last boat was a ski centurion falcon with a very nice flat wake...but I still love my CC so much more

I'm afraid if you're used to the wake of that Falcon the only way you'll come close to that with a CC is something well into the'90s. Deal with it.

Yes..I'm gonna deal with it lol I just talked to Greg at Acme and he confirmed the 540 is my best selection for the boat..That's ok, just had to ask the question

If you're just free skiing and not worried about training for course skiing, try different line lengths (shorter). Depending on what speed you ski you may find 28-32 off will put you in front of that nasty 2001 rooster tail.

Ya, thanks, I was thinking of trying that this weekend.
