I recently acquired a teak swim platform for my '73 Southwind. I spent some time searching through old threads to find instructions on restoring it, but couldn't find what I was looking for. Does anyone have any recommendations? The gentleman at the hardware store suggested that I lightly sand the wood, then apply teak oil. I thought it would be best to run this past the board. If not, get back to us. BTW, the guy in the hardware store doesn't know how to clean Teak. Get one of the Teak refinishing kits. Cleaning is the most important step. Brass brush for use with the cleaner. Sanding is optional between coats. ------------- |

I used the three step Starbrite method with excellent results. I did power wash first (lightly) then the cleaner, then power wash lightly, let it dry and follow the directions from there. I used a bristle hand brush for the cleaning just to rub the cleaner in good; then lightly power washed. The oil was applied with a small paint brush. Nothing special. Don't overdo the power wash. ------------- /diaries/details.asp?ID=4810" rel="nofollow - 80 Ski Nautique |

Greg, The TSP may work good for cleaning but not brightening.
