As requested per John here are my dogs.

Belle, an 8 year old American Brittany is the same one in the background of my motorcycle pic on the bike thread.

Here is Farley, a 12 yr old english style Lab. He was born the same month and year that Chris Farley died, so we named him after Chris Farley. This is him hanging out in my martinique, being a good boat buddy.

Here are Belly and Farley hanging out on the couch.

Here is our newest addition, Badger, 8 week old english type Labrador retriever. We just got him this week.

Jo...The Tennessee Wonder Dog.

Jo..Patti and I on moving day leaving Avon Ohio for Lake Wales Florida.

Can't believe it but have no pictures of Miss Mindy our Brit Springer on the computer. Gotta scan some in. What a beautiful dog Belle is. Bet she loves to run. Does she have a favorite toy she loves to carry? Mindy wouldn't go anywhere without a raquet ball in her mouth. She would run around like crazy looking for one when we opened the door to let her out. Best dogs in the world. We had Mindy with us for 14 great years. Thanks for sharing the pictures Tom..you got no idea how much I enjoy lookin' at them.

Not as old as it looks, taken in black and white for effect. This is kirby the wonder dog. Absolutely loved the water. When she wandered off all I had to do was blow the boat horn and she came running. She left us about 5 years ago, and now I am stuck with a cat. Just not the same.

This was our perfect dog, and its our first year without her since '91.
Ran with her daily till she was 15, and she loved to dive off the dock and just be around us. Gentle and quiet.
Her first 16 years were great, the last one was difficult.

This is a picture of our dog "Buddy," he's a mutt we saved from the pound and grew up with our boys. He always rode in the boat with us, loved the water, thought he could catch ducks, and was a good friend as one could find. We had to say good bye to him a couple of years ago . . . one of the hardest things ever to do.

With a photo hosting site, like photobucket or picassa.

Ours, Koda

Posted By: DrCC
Date Posted: May-29-2010 at 5:55pm
Koda was left tied to a tree at a public beach last May. Our neighbors was looking for a home for him. After two months of petting him through the fence and feeding him bisquets, Al told me to go ask if we could have him. That very evening on July 25, 2009, he became ours. He had been abused, neglected, and starved for affection. Took him to the vet to be told he was between 3 and 5 years old. The next vet told us he could only be 1 to 1 and a half. To our surprise, we had a puppy. He's grown leaps and bounds and is still cutting teeth. House broken was a plus. He's the best.

Peter,Save the photo in a file you can find. I assume this site works the same with a mac, click " post reply" under the last thread entry, not quick reply. This will put you in "full reply" mode, then click on the little tree with the up arrow above the dialog box. follow browse instructions.

That's interesting, a springer brittany cross. I've had a few springers, and now one brit, unless you told me that was a brit mixed with a springer I would have guessed pure springer.

See contrary to what some people think, a brittany isn't even a spaniel. As a pointing dog, and springers being flushing dogs, these 2 breeds are very far apart. In 1984 the AKC dropped the "spaniel" part from American Brittany, and bloodwork actually revealed that a Brittany (there are French and American Brittanys btw) is actually closest related to an english setter. That also explains why a brittany is a pointer and not a flushing dog like all the other spaniels.

So, the big question then. Does your brit/ springer mix point, or run in on birds?
That and does that mix have a leggier body like a Brit?

Another Brit owner on here then. It's not a very popular dog due to their high activity needs, well unless you are an otdoorsperson that is.

Was yours an American Brittany or a French brit?

My Brit will be 9 at the end of August. But she gets mistaken for a puppy because she has so much energy.

I need to put of more pics of my lab Badger. I got a great pic of badger with the 12 yr old lab Farley the other day. it's like big and little, LOL.

Alvin (we call him Alvi) and Missy. Alvi is the larger of the two. They are both pound / rescue dogs and both some form of poodle / terrier mix. We're planning on taking Alvi on the boat with us next week one night and see how he does. Missy never cared for it much...just shakes and cowers in a corner. We're hoping Alvi likes the water and is well behaved.

Alvi is a good looking pup...definitely a poodle/terrier mix. We just picked up a rescue poodle/terrier mix at the end of January. I need to get some pics uploaded of both of the muts. The other is a golden ret./poodle mix (goldendoodle).

That is a nice looking chocolate lab. How is the housebreaking going? Mine's a little fireball, but adjusting well after only a week. My brit is less accepting of the new pup's antics than our older lab is.

Horkn

Wake is doing pretty darn well for being pulled from his mom and bros and sis's. He doesn't squeek too much at night and he is doing pretty well on going outside. We have to make sure we give him ample opportunity to get in the grass, needless to say he has had a couple accidents in the house but is doing pretty darn well. He has a great personality...I think he'd chew your finger off if you let him though...

LOL. Mine is learning that hands are not chew toys, and that there is a difference between his toys and furniture. The fiance wanted to take him out in the boat for a ride. I told her no way until he stops chewing on stuff. I spent a lot of time redoing the interior, I don't want any damage.
You have to expect accidents in the house. Amazingly our little guy hasn't made one peep at night, but that doesn't mean I don't have to get up at 4am to let him out. ;)

I actually taught my American Britanny to go to the swim platform and do her number 1. It's actually pretty funny.

That is awesome!!!!! haha yea well we had Wake on the dock last weekend and he slipped off the walkway and sunk like a stone. My finance had to grab him off the bottom of the river by the neck fur and set him back on the dock. Didn't want him in the river till his immune system was fully functional but oh well. He must have forgotten the swimming lessons I gave him in my cousins pool the day before...silly pooch lol

Hopefully that doesn't persuade Wake from any future water adventures when he is ready for it. That same thing happened to my last English Springer, Beans, when she was like 8 weeks old. Plop, right off the dock and in between the dock and the boat lift. I grabbed her out before she had a chance to sink. She was a total water dog, even after that. I will have to see if I can scan a photo to put up here of her jumping off the dock.

Badger has been playing in the kiddie pool we have for our other Lab.   This little puppy is sticking his entire face under the water and searching around for rubber duckies. I know many duck hunters love dogs that will do that because they can find ducks that try to bury themselves in the weeds after getting taken down.

I dont want to share pictures of my dog because its a girly dog..for the wife and kids, but I will share a story that only just happened yesterday, im working the US towboat and look across the river and was watching this girl calling her dog, it wouldnt come to her, and next thing you know a deer pops out of the woods and is nose to nose with the dog, they ran in circles and the deer took off into the woods, 5 seconds later the deer pops out again about 50 foot down and does the same thing to the dog. this went on for about 10 minutes and i just thought it was unusual to see a dog and deer playing like that

i like the husky but i think i like the side storage on the boat better, the skylark is nice but no room for anything .

When I redid the interior on my 78 martinique, I was seriously contemplating getting rid of the side storage and having a more open floor.

Most times I am glad I kept it. But I do need to find a thinner smaller cooler.

05 210, what is that little guy? Sure is a cute dog. Is there any beagle or pug in that one's DNA?

I thought of this thread yesterday, one of my customers returned from Fla, and went on to tell me that the kennel called him while he was down there, they lost his fcn dog! it went under the fence and no signs of him anywhere....he's is a little upset.

Both. Pug / Beagle mix. She's a fiesty one, gives that 100# lab a run for his money. Wasn't thrilled when the wife brought her home(she's a "pet collector"), but I've grown quite fond of her fearless personality .

That's horrible. I hope that they get their dog back and it's OK.

That dog reminds me of an old neighbor's beagle lab mix. Looked just like a mini chocolate lab. His name was Hershey.

I've got a friend here in WI with a "puggle" as well.

Reupping old thread - - thought I would share picture of our pup (golden doodle) here so as not to hijack the other thread.

This was a few months ago when he was about 7 months old. He loved going out in the boat last summer.

His paws are about the size of my palm, so I think he will be a good swimmer.

Only took an hour to get this photo taken, had to find just the right light & manage the all the squirming.

Chris if he is a Standard Poodle X Golden he will be a big boy. The hybrid vigor will usually produce a dog larger than either.

Nice looking fella I like the black, his coat also looks like the fleece type which is preferable.

The Vet had us take him off of puppy food at 3 months because he was growing so fast. We think he will get about 80-90 lbs.

Very friendly guy, but a little too smart sometimes, likes to steal things off the kitchen counter.

My sons dog. loves the boat. All that black and white hair makes it look like I have the speckled astroturf carpet'

Skutch took the pic. Not bad when you take a close up and still get three cc's in the pic!

Rescued him 9 months ago when he was well kinda a small puppy. He is still a puppy, 18 month old and at 130#. Vet is telling us he will pack on an attional 50 + pounds. Hesitant on putting him in the CC with new interior.

Attached is a picture taken "several" years ago. Only boating related picture I could find. This is my daughter Kate (who just turned 18) with our dog Charlie in much better days. We had Charlie for almost 14 years. He just died early this morning after having a rough couple of weeks. It has been an extremely emotional day at our house. These little guys literally become part of the family, and when they go....it hurts bad!

Guys.....Go give your dogs a hug while you can. Sure wish I had the opportunity to give Charlie one last big hug, and truck ride. He loved taking truck rides with my wife and I.

Sorry for your lost You are absolutely correct that they become part of the family. We lost our Boxer in April due to lymphoma at 6 years old. He went into remission 3 times and we were able to get 9 additional months out of him with different types of chemo treatments. Tough little guy. Again sorry for your lost, hope you and your family will heal soon.

Take care!

Thanks Kostas! I appreciate the sentiments. I am sorry to hear of your Boxer passing as well. All three of my brothers down in the Indianapolis area had boxers at the same time several years back. Only one left now. They are great dogs! Loads of personality.

Here is a picture of Charlie with his boxer cousins (along with two of my brothers and my son Tom, in the middle, who is now 24, and is the one that has been to GL with me a couple of times).
