I recently purchased this used bimini and though it wasn't all that complicated to get setup, I am curious as to it's history.

When I first contacted the PO, he wasn't sure the history as his father is the one that got it, and it was quite a while ago. i thought it was the BI Pro X Series bimini, but those have two vertical poles and that model says they have a release to collapse. This one is a single vertical pole and the only way to collapse it is by taking it apart. I also am not sure if the BI Rag Top and the Pro X Series are one in the same.

Either way, I think we will be happy with it,

Let me know what you think.

Looks homemade

It's mounted in front of the pylon in one picture and behind in another.

Thanks HW. I wondered if maybe that was the case as I couldnt find pictures that were similar.

Yes. I was playing around with mounting to get the highest with the tower.

If i want to be able to use the pylon, the support has to go in front, but that requires the bimini to be considerably lower. My plan is that if we focus on skiing next year, we can remove the tower which will allow the bimini to mount correctly...or we just ski off the tower or rear tow point.

Doesn't a lower bimini provide more shade?

yes. however, I would say there is a happy medium between shade and being able to move around in the boat.   When the mount is all the way down the top of the bimini sits about chest height. Where it is in the picture is about face height. So we will still have to duck to get under it, but at least it will be less annoying than all the way down.

Plus, now that I know it is homemade, I won't feel bad about modifying it to make it more realistic for our needs.
