Man, this boat seems HUGE compared to my previous '77. Taking it out on the water for first runs today!

Bonus: has a heater core which appears to still be hooked up and vented out under the observer's seat. The driver's side has a speaker for the added on stereo instead. (stereo is pretty boss -- has a sub way up in the bow).

Will report back with first drive impressions.

You should thank whoever ordered that boat for saving yet another NWZ hull from the colored secondary stripe! White/[any color]/white is such a killer combo for this hull. Really sets it off and makes it something special. Looks great.

I found this one via the CL finds here on ccfan. It was at a mastercraft dealer in cincinnati and after a number of phone calls, photos, and videos I felt comfortable about the condition and in particular felt good that the boat had two previous owners, both of whom the guys at the dealer knew and knew the service history on the boat and that the p/o's were meticulous on the maintenance. It shows! This boat is very very clean for an original condition (not re-done interior) '93.

First drive impressions, coming from a '77 S/N which I sold last Fall:
- the boat is bigger, in every way
- more interior room
- takes the chop a little bit more smoothly and generally handles bigger water much more nicely
- doesn't feel quite as tight and sporty in the handling/cornering (though admittedly I was with the fam and on a bigger lake and no smooth water for testing out higher speed cornering), but I would expect this to be the case since it's got another 2' in length and over a 1' in beam. overall a joy to drive

- i was a tad disappointed in the hole shot. the '77 could yank a handle out of a skier's hands at full throttle, but this 93 would be a nice gentle pull

- there's a constant pressure on the rudder that pulls the boat slightly left

On these last two points, I'm wondering if upgrading from the stock prop would address these?

Congrats. Still waiting for dad to realize he wants a second boat that's perhaps a 93 SN.

Any prop upgrade would be money well spent.

The rudder most likely has a trailing edge ground down to tighten up the steering in the slalom course (which is what a Ski Nautique is really designed for primarily). Should be there but if you don't like it you could probably grind down the other trailing edge of the rudder a bit to take some of that out.

As for handling- there is absolutely nothing about the boat that should feel "less" sporty or agile over a Gen2 SN hull. All driving attributes should be way better in general, particularly bow rise being significantly less out of the hole. Maybe it feels more muted but that boat should in all ways out-perform the older hulls in agility and driving feel.

Put a 422 on there and you'll see a lot of performance improvement over the stock prop.

Congratulations,

Nice to see another 1993 pop up in Minnesota. I was the original owner of a 1993 before before selling and buying my python. The slalom wake was an eye opener over my previous 1989. The boat just seemed smooth! The 1993 came with the Looney Toons decals for the back of the transom. I never installed mine. Let me know if you have any interest in them. My thought is that I will never use them. We could work out a price through the private messaging. The are original, not remakes. 1993 was the only year to use them. If anyone else is interested, shoot me a message.   I am over on Prior Lake, South metro.

Enjoy your 1993!

Scott

@kapla This has the standard ford 351 240hp motor w/ PCM marinization. Holley carb.

@skierox Good to know another ccfan here in lovely MN! I did the lake test when selling my '77 last fall on Prior Lake :). I'll pass on the decals, I'm digging the stern look of my new ride just as is -- but thanks!
