Last fall I purchased a 1998 AirTique 176. The boat was purchased two days before closing the summer place and one day before an all-day rain was forecast. My only option was to buy an generic cover and get it covered. Quickly found that the taller pylon prevented the cover from fitting. Soooo, removed the pylon (not fun) and covered the boat. My question is what are other Airtique 176 owners doing for a cover. My canvas guy can sew a sock into the current cover which is probably my best option for now. Not quite ready to spring for a custom cover until other upgrades are completed. I am guessing not many Airtique 176s out there but I thought it is worth trying.

Maybe some pictures will help. Can the pylon be used to help push the cover up and keep the water out? Or is it too tall.

Have the same extended pylon and it works well as a prop rod for the cover, just have your canvas guy do the sock thing and not too deep so the pylon acts as a prop rod.

Here is a pic of mine cover on, pylon makes a great tent pole.

Hey, I've got the same exact boat that I'm sorry to say will probably be selling soon. We are on Lake George in the NY Adirondacks, and for years had our boat on a mooring. So we had a custom mooring cover made by Dave Montgomery at Village Canvass (w: 518-668-2414). His price was very reasonable and, more importantly, his workmanship was magnificent. Three or four years after, the marina that hauled out my boat ripped a snap out of the cover, so I took it to Dave to repair and he did it on the spot and didn't charge me. The guy is a mensch!

I would recommend giving Dave a call. If you want to get a cover from him, I would think he could use my boat as a model, if he doesn't have the measurements of my cover on file.

Curious to know how many hours were on your boat when you bought it, and what you paid (also the condition would be good to know). I'm going to list mine and trying to get idea of value. The past few years it seems that every time its launched in spring, the marina does a water test and ends up replacing different things. Could just be a function of old age, but it seemed like I was slowly rebuilding the boat.

This summer my starboard speedo cable was leaking and, since it acts like a siphon once water begins to flow, the boat almost sank (I don't have an auto-bilge.....highly recommend that!). So I brought it to marina, they figured out problem and plugged the speedo cable as quick fix until it's hauled out for winter, since fuel tank has to come out to replace cable. When I picked boat up I got a mile away from marina and my tranny crapped out.   So that was the last straw for my little AirTique. Gonna fix it and sell it,

Good luck with yours......we had years of fun with ours!
