Let's go halvsies. You do the buffing. I'll fix the prop shaft, skegs, cutlass and prop. Then we can start a new reality TV show "flip this boat" |

I know your kidding Pete but I wonder how it would work. Would it have a salvage title? Do boats even have salvage title? So lets say you buy it you get it back to Illinois and go to title it in your name. Say it's worth 75K as a used boat but since it's damaged and unusable you buy it for say 15K. The great State of Illinois is going to want the tax for a boat worth 75K unless it does have a salvage title I would think. Then you have a 2016 boat with a salvage title which would kill the valve? You'd have to do the work yourself otherwise too many people would have their fingers in the pie cutting profit.

Gary,
Interesting scenario! The quick answer is I don't know. I'm sure it would depend on the state and if insured, the insurance company paperwork. Let's see if any other member has any input. BTW, in your retirement, you do not need another project!! |

Since you can buy a pretty nice ready to go boat for 15K, why bother with a wreck?
What made it worth 75K in the 1st place? |

Good point on plenty of good ones for $15. There just aren't any 2016 boats with 20 hours on them. If it were a 2016 Nautique 200, how many of us would be interested? I would never buy one of those boats except if it were a steal and this one is not there unless you're a fiberglass person.
Clearly the person who wrecked it got a fat check from the insurance company and may have bought the wreck for some price close to this "sale". It's not a $15k boat yet. It's a $20k boat. Waterlogged boats (we don't know if it was saltwater or not) have a history of electrical gremlins that just don't get solved easily. This discussion probably is taking place over on PN where folks like barges like this one. |

The boat doesn't have a title. Arizona is a bill of sale state for boats. The trailer would be titled. I think you could buy it in AZ, transfer the bill of sale, then title it wherever. Not completely sure and it probably depends on the state you would title it in and how they deal with title transfers from a bill of sale state.
The boat is only 15 miles from my house. I haven't looked at it but if it dropped low enough I would consider it, just to part out or fix and flip. |

Barefoot looks nice in the water. Not so much for the interior. That's a lot of mildew and it makes we wonder about the structure. Good stringers? Worth a bid and oooohhh that big block. Yeeehaaaa.

That Cuddy has been for sale for years now. I spoke to the owner at one point and I got the impression the boat is in good shape, he has a solid mechanical background and seemed pretty proud of the updates to the boat. He is trying to sell it with electronics as part of the deal, but they are pretty dated at this point. I'm sorely tempted, but haven't yet gone over to take a look. Assuming things were done well and stringers are ok, I have to think that with new motor, rebuilt tranny, new gauges, aluminum trailer, it's a pretty fair deal. |

I am mildly interested in it but I am also maybe buying a house this summer and I can't really do both. I really want a second boat that I can get on the Hudson river or Long Island Sound and do some touring with the family. Something like the Cuddy would be ideal. Just don't think I am ready to pull the trigger just yet and I don't have time for another project either. |

Let's go in on it 50/50, I'll keep it from May to October, you can have it November through April. Deal?
I have similar thoughts to yours. I'd like a boat I can trailer over to the coast, spend a day cruising around, big and seaworthy enough for good weather family outings. In that sense it's a lot of boat for the money. |

98 ski for $3630 in Greensboro? Scam? Possibly but there's a local number attached.

No doubt scam.
I've been combing Craigslist pretty hard for an RV. The robot spammers in the RV section are out of control, probably 1 out of 8 ads. |

Today when I bought my Fish Nautique the guy had a late seventies ski nautique sitting in the yard with no motor, 1978 to be exact, said he would let it go without the trailer for $400 and supposedly the floor is still solid, everything looks like its there minus the engine. If anyone is interested I could get them in touch with owners approval.

On the WS ad for the Green 98 there was a 704 number. I texted with them and the price was 2500. The text back seemed legit. Then I got the email with pics and it seemed scam. Pics looked good but the email referenced an aluminum hull and 150 merc. It also wanted to use Amazon as a go between for safety. I texted back and asked them to call me should they want to sell. I am not holding my breath

Pete,
Chris likes the Monster Towers it you decide to buy the boat and add a tower. The said you can easily switch from fishing to skiing . This makes it a dual purpose watercraft. Donald |
