I have an ‘82 SN 2000 and I want to install a depth finder. I really don’t want to put any holes in the hull.
Any success with in hull depth finders?
What model/manufactures?
Where to install it so I get accurate readings, before it’s too late?
Where have others installed the readout?
Thanks for the guidance!

I used Hawk-I, put transponder under port side of transmission area - only reason for that location was it was easy to reach.

Hummingbird depth finder placed the puck just behind drain plug fitting.

I've had all 3 styles - in hull, thru hull and transom mount. Thus far the most accurate, reliable and trouble free has been the thru hull. The bilge mount seemed to be fairly accurate but had problems getting a signal from time to time. Transom mount is problematic in that turbulence and cavitation can obscure signal acquisition and would happen randomly and unpredictably. When it works though, it is about as accurate as the thru hull. In hull was a Hummingbird. Through hulls were Faria as well as transom mount.
