Is replacing the Air Guide Speed gauges on my 1990 Sport Nautique a big Taboo? I just ordered a set of Faria Gauges to replace the older Vdos (that don't all work, fuel voltage temp etc.) and a speed gauge came with the package with pitot tubes and all. I was not planning on messing with my air guides until I saved up enough money to rebuild them myself ($180 for all the parts I need if I rebuild my self.) They are sun worn and one does not work due to damaged tube going to pitot. Obviously buying another Faria and converting would be cheaper. Is there any disadvantages to this? Is it a big Taboo for a Nautique Owner? I don't want to make the boat seem less attractive for a future buyer either.

Another Person from Mount Dora awesome, maybe I will see you on the chain, or Joanna or Dalhousie. Thanks for the advice. Why is it such a Taboo?

Ha, yeah I missed that. I ski the course on Dora by Deer Point on days wind is coming from East, other days I'm on Ola. Too nervous to launch one of my Correct Crafts at Dalhousie but sometimes I'll take my Skiff there.

Good condition Airguides can be had for as low as $100 if you wait. Non stock gauges are an eye sore IMHO but I'm a gauge nut and hoarder but not as bad as others on here. Most people here think original is the only way to go, and I pretty much agree. New faces can be had for $40.

If you do decide to swap your gauges out I'm interested in your old ones? Is there a clock?

I actually Have two extras I picked up for 20 bucks, After I rebuild my originals and don't need any parts you are more than welcome to have them for free, I also have a bunch of extra white Vdo gages that look in "ok" shape i got in the deal. I grew up on Joanna and my parents still have a house, two ski courses still exists there ( well the cinderblocks still do) if you ever get a chance. My Dad skis with his Standard ski boat which was made in Mount Dora.

No replacement faces for the VDO 6k tachometer. VDO makes a 7k that matches somewhat. It is in the "cockpit white" series. Cheapest and easiest option. Trust me!
