Got a picture? I've seen metal trim with vinyl (early 70s) and fully carpeted pockets (80) but can't picture the black trim you're talking about. You sure it's original? What material is it?

I had to dig pretty deep... look like this?
Looks alot like the trim used around the removable panel behind the back seat. |

I wouldn't worry too much about originality here. There could be a product that performs this function better than what CC used back then.

real close...if I remember my dad's correctly that was over the carpet...doesn't serve a whole lot of purpose, but i do miss the look of his now that he got thicker carpet and it didn't fit any more

Sorry to jack a thread but I meant to post this last night and fell asleep. What are the options for redoing this faux wood grain? I've seen carpet run up there but I'd like to keep mine original. |

I would imagine they used tack paper on the panels, just like they used on the dashboards. You can still get it in rolls.
By 79 or 80 (possibly earlier) CC was just wrapping that panel in carpet. The grass style used back then is about the thinnest I've seen, I can't imagine fitting that trim over it was easy. The trim used on the rear panel (assuming it's the same) is still readily available and high quality stuff. No need to reinvent the wheel. |

Picture is great that is just what I have. The wrap on the boards is sill in great shape I just need the black top part. Have been looking just not found any thing that would work good yet.

Is it the same trim as used on the rear panel or not? I have had no problem finding that.

Tim, do you mean the rear panel that covers the gas tank and then the rear seat back rest snaps to it? If so that's a different trim.
The last time my dad had his interior done in his '75 I noticed when he got it back that on the ski locker they brought the carpet up rather the faux wood but his trim is an anodized aluminum piece, not the black rubber piece pictured above. I cant for the life of me remember if this aluminum piece is original or not. Looks and shaped just like the black but not. But another option/category to look at if the black rubber can't be found. |

Phil, read your diary and see you have an Escort. Me too, seems such a rare marinzed engine. I thought about posting a thread searching for any info (the good, bad and ugly) on Escort/Skill Tech as I cant find anything.

Todd, you don't see to many with the Escort that's part of why I picked up this SN. Something a little different.
