Brackets may not be perfect to you, but they d*mn sure look good to me!

Well it's been a while, I had some time to spare today so managed to make a start on the observer seat foam:

I found these to be very useful for temporarily holding the pieces together

Wing nuts to allow the seat to be switched to forward facing if I ever feel that way inclined:

Next step to work on the skins, I'm off work till next week so hoping to get a bit more done over the next couple of days..

Looks great. I really like the blue and good job with the upholstery. Adding piping and top stitching really makes a piece look great. Did you have any special attachment to work with the piping?

Should find the Starflite seats easy to do after doing these Graham. It is the time of year for these inside projects.

Mini update, had good weather today so managed to fit those platform brackets.
Here they are finished off, drilled and tapped m10 threads for the transom bolts which needed to be countersunk, also made up some backing plates:

Fitted them to the boat using plenty of 5200

And with platform on top:

Looks good Graham, are you going to add some kind of lock pin/R clip to stop the platform lifting up and down in the water/waves, as it’s a solid platform and will won’t to lift more than an open slat type... could mark your new gel !!

Have a look at these, think it's the easy way to go... not all S/S but change the nuts out for S/S so only the body and spring are coated steel, there may well be a all S/S ones somewhere but at the cost £2.24 each I would buy a spare set..just tap one each side of the boat into the slide mounts.

Index Plunger

Roger,
You must have some pretty long arms to pull both plungers on both sides at the same time!

Look for these:

They 1/4 turn lock and are available all stainless. Over here, good old McMaster has them!

Morning Pete, I see your keeping me on my toe’s...we have pull and turn here too just not found all S/S yet...but we do have specialist tools for short arms if this type is used...in this case wood is best.

Hope to see you and the Atom at SJRR/Sunnyland.

Hey, that looks just like the special tool that I use to keep engine valves from falling down into the cylinder when air pressure is released as I take the springs off while the heads are on-engine.

Hi Art, I like it... yes they are a multi tool...can be found hanging on many manual pull out choke knobs.

Hope you are well... see you in March for a catch up.

Graham, Glad it was of some help...they look to have a good stock I have bookmarked them, have a look at the rest of their site I see they have lots of different collar rings as well that may work for your new shaft.

Lee,
You may want to be more specific as to which dimension you are looking for.

Lee,
Measure the width of your existing bracket, add 1/4" for clearance and then add 1" on each side for the flat heads that hold the assembly together.

So my bracket is 2.5" wide, would 5" wide bar be too wide?
