guys , should the crank shaft be at the exact same angle as the prop shaft?   and how much margin is there ?

Yes it should. Margin? Some one can trig it out to a angle using the max. of .003" at the outer edge of the trans/shaft coupling which has a 2" radius.

Have you seen Eric's alignment thread? What do you what to do with a angular measurement?

That is well illlustated. Question though; I know you're suppose to check alignment after break-in, but should and if so when should you check it for purposes of longivity of your tranny throughout the life of the boat?

Ryan - I check it once a year, when taking it out of storage. It's cheap insurance.

I know it's going to an extreme, but I check it with the boat floating, as I have found that changes it a little as compared to trailered.

I had to tweak it a little last year.

going to the extreme would be checking it everytime you trailer the boat as requested in many manuals, snob hit it on the head though. once a year is fine though and in the water with gear, gas and girls in the boat lol
