I'll be in Winter Haven Jan-Apr and would like to ski with someone, especially to do a slalom course. Finally made all six buoys, and would hate to "lose it" over the winter! I have an 88 Nautique down there.

Eddie and JBear are 15 minutes down the road. Don't know about a slalom course, but they will have you doing BF back deeps by March.   I think both their boats are scattered all over the bench/garage right now, so plan on using yours....they'll probably appreciate the pulls.

Dave-

There is a course on Lake Roy, which I think is right around the corner from Eddie and Jbear.

I plan on going down this spring....my favorite vacation spot!

Dave, does this mean you'll be at the River Run come Feb with the 88?

Dave; I believe you still have my cell number. We would be glad to give you a pull but to tell the truth we don't ski any lakes with a course. In fact we don't carry skis. Eddie's boat is still broke but we got mine fixed. You won't wanna ski behind mine tho. We have not been on the Chain in 2 years because the ramp on Shipp, next to Harborside, has a big sand dune at the end of the launch. The canals are very low. Lake Roy might still have a course. The last time we skied it I don't remember a course, but I wasn't really looking for one. The motel in the link is a cool place but I bet you have seen it as you are pretty close to it. We used to call it the water skier motel. You might wanna pull that '88 up to the St Johns. Cool time. And you know there is no worries about the gators! Look forwarsd to seeing ya!

Let's definitely get together! Lake Summit has a new launch that is nice, and they dug out the channel going into Lake Eloise, so at least we can ski on Eloise! I'll give you a call in January when we get settled in. What is the date for the St. John's trip? I want to go!

i remember ten years ago you could go into every lake on the chain it made for a great day these days you would have to carry your boat through most of the canals.

Thinking about touring Winter Haven Chain next weekend. Can anybody chime in with canal conditions etc? Looks like in '09 it was a bit shallow. Any active slalom courses? Any .02 welcome.

The chain has been good. I haven't had any issues with and lakes being low. I can get under the the bridges with my tower up. There are a bunch of slalom courses all throughout the chain.

we do not use the Chain Todd...but the local Winter Haven lakes we ski on are all quite full. You should have no problems.
